So I am 7 days out and for the last couple of nights I've had chills at night. Should I be concerned? Anyone else with this?

I had chills at night for the first several weeks. And still do but not to the same degree as early on.

I did run a slight fever for about two weeks. The cause was never identified, even though they checked for infection and leak. So check your temp!

Hey KiKi I ha chills all the time without fever. I used to sweat all the time..now I am cold all the time, so I think it's normal. Just make sure you aren't runnin a temperature. It's normal..I just got a heating blanket and put it on 7 and stayed toasty throughout the night..it gets better though..I don't get as cold as I used too. I was sleeved 4/3 so it takes a bit of time to adjust! Good luck!

I had chills as well, and still do almost a year post op. I bought a pair of smart wool long johns and wool socks. I love them!

I used to be hot all the time, and it is such a relief to be able to put on layers!

I had chills about a week out. Ran a low grade fever. But I never checked it out. I'm now 8 weeks out. I kinda just think it was my body trying to heal.

There is something about this surgery that changes your natural temp control mechanism. Pre-surgery I could not tolerate the heat...sweating, feeling listless and angry!! Now I definitely do not sweat as much, I am on the cooler side instead of uncomfortably hot wherever I am, and I don't think I am going to die walking from work to my car, even though it was 107 today!! I still hate summer in the South and hot weather still makes me mad...but my body tolerates it much better. One more of the many unexpected benefits of my wonderful sleeve...Kathe

Running a low-grade fever is normal after surgery and as your temp goes up, you can feel chilled. Call your doctor if your temp goes above 100.5 F. The aftereffects of anesthesia can also make you feel cold. As you lose fat (and insulation) you can also get cold easier. I sleep with a heated mattress pad all year round and wear a sweater (or more) most days.

Thank you all for sharing. I am much better. Looks like the chills were related to the pain med.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
