I do agree with the distinction between tummy hunger and head hunger.

Yesterday I was walking through a large parking lot. On the edge of the parking lot was a Kentucky Fried chicken - the wind was coming right at me.... the aroma of Nature's most perfect food - fried chicken - was all embracing. I closed my eyes and took in the sweet aroma of the forbidden delicacy.... I saw angels... but they had chicken wings, and little baskets with rolls and gravy... I am pretty sure I passed out.

Da^^%, head hunger.

 This made me laugh so hard.

I am 2 1/2 weeks out and have felt no "hunger." I do feel empty when it's time to eat, but it's not really hunger per se. I have had bouts of head hunger and I totally knew it was because I wanted really naughty, naughty foods.

Once I started thick to solids I don't get that hungry. I have some head hunger in the evenings, but that is just habit.

Just throwing in my two cents worth. I haven't felt true hunger since the morning BEFORE surgery. I have not been hungry since I woke up. Right now, I'm using my son's internal clock to know it is time to eat. I figure I will have to set alarms when I go back to work. I just hope this feeling lasts. :)

I rarely feel hungry- I eat normally because it has been several hours since I last did and it is a necessity more though than a want... I love/hate it...

Yesturday I was taking care of some legal matters with family and wasn't able to eat. I did not get hungry and was drinking my Water. But when I got home, I wasn't really hungry but once I ate some peanuts and stuff, my head hunger got really bad. The head hunger is really an enemy of mine. I'm always working on this. I have been doing a lot of mindless eating too.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
