dooter55 35 Posted July 16, 2012 I'm pre-op but I think people add the unflavored Protein Powder to broth and crystal lite. 1 Tammy Ansley reacted to this
ppatterson 24 Posted July 16, 2012 My surgeon said not to worry about Protein when on Clear Liquids. I didn't have to start keeping track of protein until I went on full liquid, second week. Good Luck
lacie1221 4 Posted July 16, 2012 My surgeon said the same thing - just worry about staying hydrated the first week. I'm having problems just with that, I don't know what I would do if I had to get Protein in as well.
Katie713 423 Posted July 16, 2012 At Kaiser we were all recommended to start Isopure immediately as a clear liquid. A 20 oz bottle has 40 grams of Protein. I bought mine at Vitamin Shoppe and there are lots of flavors. It counts as clear Fluid so you get hydration woth protein.
lacie1221 4 Posted July 16, 2012 I'm not even sure if I could tolerate Isopure at this point. I'm really sensitive to tastes and the power of suggestion, and there are too many people here who call it Isopuke. Blech.
Paulson1304 14 Posted July 16, 2012 Ok thanks, what did u guys do at home the first week, im four days post op and the only time I've left the house was lastnight to go to Walmart and by the time we left I was starting to feel sick so I really don't want to leave the house again until my one week check up. Anything helps. Thanks.
Wheetsin 714 Posted July 16, 2012 Don't worry about Protein 1 week post-op. Focus on hydration. The best clear Protein I've found is Nature's Best Isopure in "grape frost". I add some SF grape drink mix (I get it at Target, it's their house brand) and it pretty much tastes like grape koolaid that leaves my mouth feeling a little dry. I'm over 3 mos out and it's the only Protein Drink I can really tolerate. Sleeve-wise, not preference-wise. Standard Protein drinks are just too thick. Any time I drink something more viscuous than Water, I feel it in a major way.
TinkerToyz 45 Posted July 16, 2012 Lacie, I'm with you. I have 2 bottles of Isopure in the fridge, the thought of even taking a sip nauseates me. I think they are gonna stay right there. 1 Jeniluv1978 reacted to this
TheNewSusie 471 Posted July 16, 2012 You can also get the Protein bullets from Walmart by body fortress they have I think it's 42 grams protein, but while on clears I did not worry about protein either until I got to full liquids which I'm on now.
