Hey newbi here!

So I was sleeved on the 15th of may so I am a few weeks out and learning to deal with this!

Personally I haven’t had a great time I have Water nausea which makes it hard to get fluids, meant to have moved on now to trying “normal” food hard hard time with that, not overeating at all just can’t handle most real food.

Some fish Soup and some fruit is my diet while a little boring and i think my taste buds died oh like 10 weeks ago the pre op diet killed them lol

Pains not been a issue for me never really was warm drinks like decafe tea is a godsend and icepoles lol

Out of interest what do people do for Protein when you can’t really eat much no red meat at all agrees with me, and I really do not like milkshakes plus I am lactose intolerant I do make them but its like ewwww coz I am not a fan of them!

All in all other than not being able to do too much “normal” food mine has gone pretty good so far and I decided to stop lurking and join up so HI lol

I am definitely not getting enough Protein in and I also have the Water nausea but I have found that I can handle the Gatorade G2 better than water. Also, Special K makes a pink lemonade with protein in it. It's tolerable. I also found that I can handle the chicken in a can...like tuna...if I mash it up well and that has protein. Good luck and I hope your tastebuds come back! lol

Welcome Sassy! I had my surgery April 24th, I have had the same issues with nausea...it sure makes it difficult to even just get in the liquid Protein Shakes as well. To introduce chewing I have tried a bit of Peanut Butter, scarmbled eggs and cottage cheese (not all at once lol) all stay down okay as long as it is only a few really small bites...good luck finding something! I am sure someone on here will share more of what works for them very helpful team. xo

i don’t think we have chicken in a can in the uk lol

i can eat some chicken as long as its not dry i never liked dry food before always drank when i ate so not being able to is like arrggghh.

I know I am no where near eating enough but I physically can’t do it I think its going well then blughhhh up it comes.

What annoys me too is you can be fine for 3 days like muesli for Breakfast for 3 days day 4 puke after I eat it.

That’s so annoying to me because it puts me off trying to eat that food again.

eggs are like I am trying to turn my body inside out tried them twice with a gap only get 2 teaspoons of the white in and its like I am possessed and trying to rid myself of a demon lol

I just thank god I am not one of the people with head or actual hunger pains I never was like that before but I think it would be worse if I felt I was hungry and found food hard!

eggs are so not my friend!

Also I tried cottage cheese even though I think its rank that was not fun either 2 teaspoons and up it come so I tossed that idea lol

Not tried Peanut Butter (I sound like a moaner now lol) don’t really like peanut butter it’s the whole stuck to my mouth dry thing when I can’t drink at the same time I am putting off trying to eat that!

I have read loads of threads and I am a bit jealous some people can eat certain things, I’ve always been a veg first person now to switch to Protein first person is really hard when that’s all I can eat and I can’t handle it well!

I did find seafood sticks go down really well discovered that yesterday so I am happy about that but again its fish, fish seems to be easy.

Thanks for the welcome and in put btw!

i searched for a couple of hours any uk places that seemed to sell it said out of stock, then I read they don’t import to the uk any more so I e-mailed the company for uk stockiest or where I could get it from.

They would be a lot easier to drink than forcing myself to drink a shake!

I know you said you were lactose intolerant but the nectar line by Syntrax is Protein Powder your able to mix with Water and they come in fruity flavors. I've heard of some people mixing them with Crystal Light or any type of low cal sugar free water flavoring and it tastes very good. Might be something to give a try- idk if they ship to the UK but you can try and see :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
