2 Months Post-Op - Pics And Measurements

Recommended Posts

So yesterday was my 2 month post-op Surgiversary!

Overall, I'm feeling pretty great! Down 49 lbs (1 lbs away from my first goal!) and nearly 27% to my goal weight!

My measurements are surprising! I didn't lose that much in inches in the first month (-12.25 inches), but I lost more weight (-21.9 lbs). In my second month, I've lost less weight (-15.3 lbs), but significantly more inches (-21.75 inches)! Not sure what to attribute that to, perhaps the first month was mostly Water weight and less reflected in measurements? In any case, I'll take it!

Here are some pictures of my progress:

I don't see that big a change in these pictures (my body image is messed up....I know). My husband says he sees a dramatic change already (he's so sweet and supportive!). I do see quite a change in my face though, which is nice, as I look at myself in the mirror in the morning (tooth brushing, combing, etc.) and it's a good way to start off the day!).

Yippee!

Yes. Definitely a change! You look GREAT!

Also one thing I've noticed is a consistent theme in the before/after pics is the colors worn. It's really telling....Most of the before pics are in darker clothing and usually our big girl armor of the black Leggings and big shirt. The after pics we usually have on white or a bright color that shows how joyous we are with the changes.

I guess clothes really do make the man and are telling as to how we feel about ourselves. LOL.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
