Bring some feminine hygiene pads. Some ppl start their cycles post-op and you don't want to have to use the bulky, horse pads they give you at the hospital. Always overnights does the job.

Also some comfy socks with the appliques on the bottom so that when you get up and walk you feel comfortable with your footings. I did not like wearing slippers when walking down the hallway. I preferred only my socks.

Chap stick.

My lips were unbelievably dry after surgery, especially the 1st 24 hrs because my doc wouldn't give me anything to eat until I had the swallow test. They said all the fluids and nutrients would come in the IV. I wasn't hungry, but my lips her very dry.

Extra Hydrating Lotion

My skin was really dry too.

A robe, because you will be walking the halls. I also recommend taking your own pillow, a heating pad and sweat pants.

Peppermint toothpaste. Trust me on this one. Some of the meds they give u are liquid and plain nasty. I thought i was gonna throw up but as soon as I brushed my teeth, the peppermint helped tons.

I second the chap stick. My mouth was so dry too and I could not have anything until I had my leak test. I did, however, put some Water in my mouth, swish it around and spit it out in a cup. I did this often and the staff allowed it (I would never have swallowed it without a leak test!).

I did not bring a bath robe - I would not have been able to use one anyway. I had an IV on one hand, an oxygen meeter on the other hand...no way for me to put my hand through a robe. They have robes at the hospital that have snaps at the shoulders.

I did bring my cell phone and charger, toothbrush and toothpaste . I also brought few books and magazines too but I never read them.

Oh, I did bring my own pillow. I am glad that I did. Just don't use a white pillow case so the hospital will know it's not one of theirs.

Justine... I am excited! And I hurt my hand really bad on friday so I can put a real one on by myself anyways! I have to have my husband put it on for me so I've been wearing a sports bra!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
