Why I Don't Like To Depend On Others

Recommended Posts

OK, I need to vent...

I asked ONE THING. Just one thing I asked for help with after surgery: and that's to get help carrying my laundry to the laundromat. I currently don't have a washer and dryer, so I asked someone in my family who, of course, I'm ALWAYS there for financially and emotionally to help me carry my laundry. Don't have to load the machines, I can do that. Just carry the doggone basket. Here I am 3 weeks out from surgery and need clean clothes. And here I sit...and wait...and wait.

It's hot as Hades outside and I really wanted to get this done first thing in the morning, so I could then go to the gym and then get on with my day. But unfortunately, it's almost 11am and I've neither washed clothes or been to the gym.

It is frustrating for me cuz I'm very independent. I don't ask for help unless I absolutely need it. So when I don't get the help I ask for and NEED, it just makes me feel so...unloved.

I'm tempted to just take the laundry myself, but I don't want to end up hurting my sleeve. But damn! I just wish I had people in my life who would consider my needs once in a while. :(

Oh girl I am so sorry! Just try and let it go, don't let it ruin your day if you can't change it. Make it a great rest of the day!

Meanwhile I'm praying you get the help you need and they step up and help you!

Do you have anything that has wheels on it--like a suitcase even? You could put the clothes in that and just pull it which should not hurt you.

I know how u feel. I'm one of those who gives and gives and never get in return. I get my feelings hurt when I ask for help with something and get told no or worse yet get lied to and say yes and not do it.

IF u have to go by yourself, take the basket to the car empty and slowly take a few pieces at a time. I know it's a pain but you don't want to pull something and cause major damage. *HUGS*

Thanks for the support. It helps. I just felt really bad because I am that go-to person in my family when some folks are in need. And I always try to be there. Normally, i could just stuff my feelings down with food, but them there days are over! So my emotions are just bubbling to the surface.

Anyhoo, she finally came...after I had to guilt trip her into it. And I hate that cuz I really shouldn't have to do that!

But one thing I know now: I may not have supportive family and friends...and now I don't even have food. BUT, I've got ME! And as the weight comes off, I'm getting stronger mentally AND physically. So it's time to set some boundaries so I can make room for more positive people in my life. Cuz I don't think what I asked was too much to ask of anyone. And I cannot even recall the last time I asked for ANYTHING else!

SMDH...

This is a GREAT idea and is exactly what I'll do next time. That way, I won't have to ask for help. :)

Soon your cloths will be so small they'll not weigh much in a basket :P.

And I'm glad it worked out finally. I'm kind if the go to girl as well but I've learned to put my foot down when life becomes insane (remind me of that next week while I'm getting ready to host 12 house guests for a week lol).

Or you could just wear all the dirty clothes to the laundry mat, wash them, then wear them home. :)

LOL I'm trying to take weight OFF and you want me to put it back ON???

On a side note, some of you might wonder, "Why doesn't she invest in getting a washer and dryer already??" I ask myself the same question, because it's nothing to do with the expense. But right now, my life is just in a state of flux. You see, after I lose the weight, I want to take a trip around the world. So when I weigh the costs of buying appliances (and then storing them when I leave) with using that same money for my trip, well savings wins out! ;)

If you take me on the trip you can do your laundry at my house lol. I actually have a few extra laundry room so there will be plenty of room! (we are converting a Victorian house from a b&b back to a house....I have 13 bathrooms and four laundry rooms!). That's about ummm well way too many and no closets!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
