Ok, so I really need help! I had my surgery on July 10th, and just got home on Friday 13th. Things went great on that day, I kept up my 5oz of liquid, felt ok..etc. Yesterday was not so great. I got really sick, tummy hurt, vomiting... I went to bed early and then got up at 3am, have been up since. The one thing I didn't get that the dr suggested was the chewable pepcid, but I felt like I had more gas and got some chewable gas-ex pills. I am so miserable and still feel sick. I know I didn't drink nearly enough yesterday either. And since I've been up, I have only had a couple of sips, I feel like I might get sick again. The dr sent me home on a liquid diet for two weeks, and almost everything I can have is sweet! Its driving me crazy. I don't know what to do. Suggestions?? I don't want to go back to the hospital.

Sorry, you aren't feeling great. I would recommend peppermint tea to get rid off gas and settle the stomach. Can you not have clear Soup after a few days if you like savory? Bear with it, things will get better, I promise. I was operated on 26th June and feel better every day (apart from the few odd days).

I feel you on the sweets. I despise artificially sweetened things, and it feels like that's all I've had for a month. I am just now going into mushies, oh its so much better, it at least brings SOME variety. chicken broth, beef broth, ham broth will all break up the monotony with being both heated items and savory, but offer little nutritious value. But remember they count as Fluid intake.

The Gas X and Pepcid are for two different things. My surgeon explained that the Pepcid helps your stomach to heal and helps prevent ulcers. He prescribed mine twice a day. I have to dissolve it each time in a small amount of Water to take, The Gas X does help with the gas pains, but it sounds like you need to get started on the Pepcid. When I was late taking a dose I had pain in the upper part of my stomach and felt sick.

I'm sorry to hear you're having a hard time. I know what you mean about the sweet liquids. Look at it like medicine, you have to take it to feel better. It will not last forever (even though it feels like it) The first few days after surgery I almost felt like I was mourning real food. i even felt depressed. It will pass and once you have a routine you should feel better. you will have to basically force yourself to drink enough liquids. You don't want to get dehydrated then you will have to go back to the hospital. Sip on broths gatorade, Decaf tea w/ splenda if you can't drink it w/o (hot or cold), crystal light, apple juice etc..I hope you feel better.

Get the Pepcid right away and take it - it will help your stomach. Also, when you see "broth" on your approved foods don't get hung up on plain canned broth - I bought some of my favorite Soups and just ate the drained broth. Our local Chinese restaurant was great about giving me mostly broth of wonton Soup and egg drop - I strained it when I got home. So many different flavors of broth! Those things got me through!

Also as soon as you can get some of the cream Soups. That helps I know I was so sick of sweet too. Savory is a good change.

Try some Tomato Soup and finely chop up some fresh basil. Plain Water sometimes is better than all the sweet stuff.

I'm suffering from some depression on some days. What's that about?

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
