Make sure you count your Protein in your Fluid intake - it isn't 64 oz Water plus the Protein, it is combined 64 oz.

That said, no you probably won't have to drink it forever. Once you can eat dense protein you can get so much more protein in. I am down to one shake a day, I can do it without a shake but it tends to be higher calorie day than normal so it's better if I do drink a shake. Also, if you don't like the shake you have, order some samples and try others.

ok well 64 oz tottal sounds much better I guess I will need to get online and order some sample's. I have the Unjury. And I dont like it. I really was just a Water drinker. So to flavor my drink is more of a chore than I thought.

I like the Premier Protein shakes that you can buy at costco or Sam's Club. I think they are yummy. They have 30g of Protein per shake and only 160 calories. Its worth a try to give yourself a chance to find something you might be able to like.

It's hard getting the Protein in. I used to drink Pure Protein 100% whey Frost chocolate that I got from Target and I couldn't stand it after surgery. I went through Muscle Milk Light, GNC brand, unjury etc. and it fought me every step of the way. I bought Syntrax nectar Fuzzy Navel (mixes with water) from Vitamin Shoppe and it was like $26.00 cheaper through them than buying from Syntrax. When the going got rough and I needed to get more protein in I added Isopure Orange to the Fuzzy Navel.

I had Pure liquids for 5 weeks straight and it was rough on me because everything I liked pre-surgery I hated afterwards, but please know it gets better EVERY single day.

The most important thing you need is your Water, then you work on your Proteins. I'm back to drinking the Pure Protein shakes, though I don't "love it" like I used to I can tolerate it now.

Good luck to you and just keep telling yourself every day is better than the day before and before long you will be past this phase.

I mixed fruity Protein powder with Jello and got fluids and Protein out of it. Jay Robb Pina Colada powder was great with lime or orange Jello. The Syntrax Fuzzy Navel and the Isopure Orange MinaT mentioned above would probably be good with jello, too.

I also ate Fage Plain Greek Yogurt, which tastes like sour cream. It doubles as a Fluid and a protein, with 23 grams of protein for a cup, so even 1/4 or 1/2 cup gives some good protein.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
