Felicity 2 Posted July 14, 2012 Well on Monday I flew to Michigan from Florida to get my sleeve done by Dr. Pleatman. As soon as I got to the hospital which was around 11:30 I started pre op. About an hour later I went into surgery. I know I was supposed to have pre op one day and the surgery the next but because I was from out of town and had a flight back Wednesday my doctor need enough time to watch after me. I am 17 years old and weight 285 pounds. All I can remember was going into the operation room and my doctor made me laugh then I was out. My parents were in the waiting room and about 45 min late Dr. Pleatman told them I was done! Man my mother was so scared she thought something went wrong because it was fast. Well anyways when I finally woke up from anesthesia I could hear myself screaming and moaning very loud. The nurse asked me my pain and I screamed out 10! In the background I could hear the nurses saying I was too young for this surgery but I don’t think so. When I got to my recovery room I slept and slept and slept! Throughout the night I woke my mother up every hour to help me go to the bathroom. Let me tell you I threw up many times. I did not expect a lot of what happened to me! It isn’t an easy surgery!! All my nurses were absolutely amazing! They were right there whenever I rang for them. They came in about every other hour to check on me or whatever they needed. The next day Dr.Pleatman came in and of course I was sleeping but he woke me checked all my incisions, gave me my dvd and discharged me. After I left the hospital I went to Dr.pleatman's office to talk to him, take pictures, and watch my video. When I got to the hotel I was feeling tired and I was in so much pain from gas. On Wednesday I flew back home the plane ride was pretty good I had some apple juice which went down really well. Now i am home it’s been 6 day and I am down 17 pounds!! 1 CantBelieve_IdidIit! reacted to this
I_Sd8_em 28 Posted July 14, 2012 Glad you are doing well! As far as too young? I would look at like you do have a chance to improve but in general the success rates are low. Also comorbidities are risky so too young? NO. Good Luck!

MamaM 72 Posted July 14, 2012 Congratulations! As for being too young, I think it's an individual thing. As long as you went in to this with eyes wide open and know what you need to do while healing and follow your doc's guidelines, I don't see why not! Best wishes to you on this new journey!!!!
