Try thinking about how not to get dehydration. Make sure you spend your days sipping your Water. I used a med cup (one ounce cup) and kept my water bottle nearby. Fill up a glass with Water and pour into a smaller sip cup. Keep working on your fluids, have a sugar-free popsicle, more fluids. Keep the water at your bed stand at night and each time you wake up have a few ounces of water. I used to get up 3 times at night to potty, and each time I would pour myself 3 medicine cups of water before I got into bed. I got up in the morning and I started back on my water.

Do your best, if water gets rough try some decaff peppermint tea (which is refreshing warm or cold) with your favorite artificial sweetener and it sooths the belly.

Remember something since you are newly sleeved. You may feel like you get hungry a lot (your tummy goes in waves, or knots and grumbles. That is often a sign of acid, gas or it could be something as simple as your stomach having healing pains (like the pain you get from cutting your finger) it happens in your tummy too. A lot of people consider it constant hunger. Unfortunately, being hungry, full, acid, gas & healing all feel about the same.

Good luck, sip, walk and rest ;) Welcome to the losers bench.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
