Sometimes people get a slight cough after surgery from being intubated. Coughing when needed is a good thing, it strengthens the lungs back up.. Kinda like using a spirometer. Holding a small pillow to your stomach while coughing will greatly ease some of the discomfort.

Hope you feel better soon and congrats on your sleeve.

Nothing much to offer unfortunately but congratulations on getting your surgery. I look forward to hearing about all your successes

I had the irritated throat post op, but probably since 10 days out, I've had this annoying dry cough, like something is caught in my throat. All day long. Little annoying doggy like coughs. And night too.

Last night I took some NyQuil at 3am because I just needed to F-ing sleep. And I did hank God. I also made sure NyQuil didn't have NSAIDs, and it doesn't. Today my doctor said its ok to take robitussin and NyQuil. So I will be stocking up.

Did your cough ever go away? I'm starting to get worried that this could be a lifelong side effect of surgery. Yeah I get dramatic like that.

I seriously thought I would have the cough for ever too lol but No it went away probably a few weeks later. I think total it lasted for about 3-4 weeks at the most. It was very irritating to say the least

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
