Is it normal to not feel full 10 days PO?

Recommended Posts

I have been so hungry the past two days, and I don't feel full. I had baby food pears, two 8oz protien drinks, 1/2- 1 cup mashed potatoes a cup of Soup and some shredded slimey chicken yesterday, in addition to 3 16oz bottles of Water. It just seems like a lot to injest and still feel hungry and not feel that very full bloated feeling. I'm not having any pain, in fact I feel great.

Any ideas or is this normal?

Most of what you've had are carbs. The pears and mashed potatoes would make me hungry! It is less about how much than it is about what you eat. At least for me.

Totally normal I think. I was pretty hungry by 4 days out! If your on mushies (sounds like it) try some yogurt, sugar free pudding, refried Beans and creamy Soups. That helped me a little bit.

Good luck and let me know if I can try to come up with something else!

Are you a new bandster?

Yes, I had my surgery 8/24. I had my follow up on Friday, everything was fine and am scheduled for a fill on 9/15.

It's very normal to feel hungry at this point and to be able to eat just about anything. You're still healing, but more than likely, any internal swelling you had has gone down. Your band is not filled during surgery, so it's almost like you don't have a band at all until you get your first fill.

Hang in there and remember that this is a short difficult time to go through until you get your first fill. Try to stick to your doctor's post op diet during the healing phase. It will pay off for you in the long run.

Congratulations on your recent banding!

Tricia

Trisha, I second your comments. I was hungry after surgery but my Dr did tell me that would happen.

They won't put anything in the band until the area where the band was placed has settled downa dn the swelling from the surgery goes away.

Once you start the fill process you will feel the restrictions

Feeling hungry is perfectly normal at this stage. If you haven't yet, check out the ABC (for August Band Club) September chat. We have all been talking about the same thing. Congrats on your surgery BTW.:clap2:

I'll check that out. Thanks for pointing me to that thread.

BTW, I'm a Dr Nusbaum patient also. He is the greatest, isn't he?

Dr. Nusbaum is an angel. I was so scared before my surgery, I was crying. (I have no idea why.) And he stayed with me for 10 minutes comforting me and reminding me why I made the decision to have the band in the first place. Did you read the article in his office listing him as one of the top bariatric surgeons in the United States. That made me feel good, and certainly more comfortable with my choice. I'm sure we'll have a lot of stories to share.:biggrin1:

I was very nervous also. Not afraid of him or the surgery but the anesthesia. I've only ever had surgery once before. I was 23, had my tonsils out and the anesthesiologist was a family friend. I KNEW he wasn't letting anything happen to me  This time I wasn't so sure!

Have you had a fill yet? I am going for my first on the 15th, just wondering what to expect.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
