Six Month Waiting Period

Recommended Posts

Hello, everyone new to this. Let me introduce myself. I am Cresteds Mom, have 5 Chinese Cresteds. I am 3 months into 6 month waiting period for surgery where I see doctor monthly. Suppose to be exercising and losing weight but no set amount. I gained 2 pounds this month, discouraging. Keep telling myself if I could do it this way wouldn't need surgery. Have others had a problem during waiting period?</p>

I did, but partly because I was warned that if I really lost too much I wouldn't qualify for the surgery. The other part was I kept thinking, "it won't be long before I can't have this anymore..." Now that I have a date and it feel like this is really happening, it is getting easier! It's more about a positive change for my health.

Would love to see pics of your cresteds! They are so cute to me : ) What kind of temperment do they have?

Cresteds are adorable. Very laid back personality, total lap dogs and biggest babies you ever saw.

I too, tell myself before long won't be able to eat this so why not eat it now. Glad to hear when I finally get date that may change.

Be careful, you don't want to gain too much. Use this time to practice eating slowly and enjoying your food (called mindful eating). Some surgeons want to see you lose wt to show that you are ready for the change. Good luck to you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
