From the Long Island area you can see Dr. Ren in NYU.

There is Dr. Schrope in Columbia Hospital.

Google it and numerous will come up.

These are the ones I know!

A friend of mine was sleeved by him on 5/23 and she is down 5/23. If you don't mind me asking, what insurance do you have? What was your pre-op & post-op experience like? How long has it been since you were sleeved?

1. sleeved on July 3, 2012

2. Empire blue cross/shield

3. Pre-op experience: Other than some administrative frustrations (people not sure if my tests were in, and recorded, et...) I had a good experience. I was a little'pushy'....I had no intentions on waiting 6 months for surgery!

4. Post-op: great! I came through the surgery with flying colors, never filled my pain meds once home. The Bariatric Team at Mercy Hospital, was supportive both pre and post op. I am down 12 lbs so far, and trying to not to weigh myself every hour! LMAO!

I'm from Brooklyn NY, getting my sleeve at Mount Sinai hospital by DR Herron. The entire team has been great. I'm only one month in for my six month supervised diet but I have nothing by great things to say so far. All my appointment are set up and things are rolling faster than I expected. Going for my upper GI next week.

Wishing you all the best of luck!

From Franklin Square Long Island. I picked Dr. Dakin from NY Presbyterian & couldn't be happier. Sleeved 9/17. No complications at all. Down 37 pounds. Bariatric floor looked like hotel suites.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
