Ryokokitty 26 Posted July 13, 2012 Hi Ladies, I was recently sleeved (6/14) and unfortunately my hair is thinning quite a bit. I'm worried if I dye my hair today it could be a disaster. My roots are showing and I'm going to a party tomorrow, so I'd really like to know what you all think. Thanks!
Minckle 87 Posted July 13, 2012 Ask your hairdresser - there are so many different types of color out there. My hairdresser changed the type of dye she uses when I told her I was worried about Hair loss. Now she uses more of a gloss that leaves my hair very healthy. My hair loss is minimal. Wheetsin 714 Posted July 13, 2012 This question has come up a few times. You might want to search terms like "hair loss dye" and see what you can find. Here's a response I made to a previous thread: I'm not a hair dresser but when you consider the reasons why the hair falls out, I can't imagine that a dye job would make it worse. The dye is just topical. The reasons the hair is falling out are systemic. There may be some impact on how your hair takes the color. Things like anesthesia, and especially antibiotics, exit our bodies in a lot of ways, including our hair (hence hair-based drug tests are effective for months). WHile they're still in our hair significantly, it can impact how certain treatments work. E.g. my stylist will not perm your hair if you've taken antibiotics in the last 3 months, she has you wait. Just my best guess. Here's the thread if you want to read more input: http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/31943-hair-dye-and-hair-loss/ 1 pkehrer reacted to this
kimmy*custis 276 Posted July 13, 2012 I have an appt next week for a color/cut and I decided not to color because I am losing lots of hair right now. Better to be safe than sorry for me!

polican 32 Posted July 15, 2012 They make Shampoo that washes in haircolor and fades after a few washes with normal shampoo. That way you get color when you need it and you don't have to worry about doing any damage to your hair. They also make mousse that puts a tint in your hair. O.T.R. sleever 3,386 Posted July 15, 2012 Coloring your hair will not cause any problems. But bleaching it likely will.
