When Can I Take A Regular (Non Chewable Vitamin)

Recommended Posts

I want to take my Vitamins, but they are HORRIBLE! I am taking a Centrum chewable Vitamin. It is huge and I hate the taste. Is it okay to take a regular Multi-Vitamin that I can just swallow (if I can tolerate it), or is there an issue with absorption post surgery? I am 6 weeks post op.

My dr had me wait 8 weeks. Try this "Source of life adults chewable" has everything most bariatric vita have and then some, dose is 2 tabs I split them am-pm . They are so good I don't chew just let them dissolve.

I have been through several different brands & types of multi Vitamins. liquids & chewables were a negative for me. However, I like the Alive gummies from the Vitamin Shoppe. They don't smell too great, but they taste okay (not bad at all).

My doctor told me I could take two children's gummis! And those were great when I was a kid. They do make an adult formula as well :)

Thanks everyone! It sounds like the gummies are the way to go!

The gummies do taste way better but my doctors office advises against them as they can be more difficult to absorb.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
