Red_Charms09 102 Posted October 15, 2012 red i was in excellent care with kaiser. from beginning to now. i only had problems with anethesia when i woke up a lot of nausea. but other than that i had so much energy afterward i couldnt understand it. i was driving my car at 2 weeks and back at work 3 weeks. i did have a grieving moment the other day i almsot cried because i realized what i had done to an organ in my body. but you know what ppl get kidneys out heart transplants etc so i shouldnt feel to sad about that. Great sis. I hoping prayer and fasting for a speedy recovery within 3 weeks or less too. Good luck on your journey. 2013 is my year....SD 11/19 Methodist Hosp in NY
AngelBaby 153 Posted October 15, 2012 is anyone else getting nervous about eating "real food" again? I was sleeved on 9-14-12 and down 32 lbs. I've been eating "real food" but mostly sticking with mushy stuff and still have at least one meal per day Protein Shake. I get worried that eating real food is going to lead me back down that slippery slope again LOL pre op I lived off of fast food and junk and whatever tasted good. I'm making good healthy choices so far but it feels "safer" to stick with shakes and pureed and soft stuff still. Been eating lots of scrambled eggs, refried Beans with cheese, Soups, greek yogurt, and cottage cheese. I'm getting about 500-700 cal/day, but usually I'm right around 600. Jordan1923 27 Posted October 15, 2012 I am 3wks out and have started eating everything. It doesnt seem to be what I eat which causes problems. Problems arise when I eat too much. I am still having trouble figuring out what is enough, then it hits me about 30 min after I ate, that I have eaten too much.
Getting There 198 Posted October 15, 2012 My surgery was 6 weeks ago today. I'm eating "moist" foods now. I learned during the pureed stage that if I don't eat SMALL bites, chew well and eat very SLOWLY, about 15-30 minutes after I finish, I don't feel very comfortable. And I'm not eating much! Baby spoon/baby fork were helpful.
greenfamily004 172 Posted October 15, 2012 I'm starting my 5th week I've only lost 17# I went to my NUT today and she said I'm not eating enough calories and my body is in starvation mode. I've been getting in between 400-600 calories a day... NUT says I need at least 800. WOW!!! I'm moving up. Guess that means I've got some more eating to do. Lol!!! I so hope this helps me move past this stall.

I'm not sure how I can manage many more (at least mostly Protein & "healthy" carbs). What are you doing to add calories? I meet with the NUT on Thursday and will hopefully get more ingo then. Not sure how much I've lost. I haven't weighed since my 1 week post-op.......

I also was told to try and add a little veggies
Getting There 198 Posted October 15, 2012 I seldom drink the Protein Shakes anymore. Maybe I'll try adding 1/day - but I seldom feel hungry enough to "eat" more than I already do...... Maybe I'll try the 1% milk too - I use skim now.

Getting There 198 Posted October 15, 2012 Are you on MFP? If so add me. Greenfamily007 I haven't done MFP yet. I just keep a small journal in my purse. That way I can track as I go - and easily see where I am each day. I'll look at MFP tonight - maybe it's something I should consider. Thanks for the suggestion. 1 AngelBaby reacted to this
suepeeps 230 Posted October 15, 2012 MFP is awesome! It calculates everything for you. I do it on my phone or my computer. Easy to show my NUT when I meet with her too. I am suepeeps on MFP 1 AngelBaby reacted to this
Barisaxylady 154 Posted October 15, 2012 Congrats to all succeeding with their surgery. That being said, I'm so frustrated! 3 weeks post op tomorrow and only down 8 since surgery! Grrrrr. I know everybody looses at different rates but sheesh! 8 lousy pounds? Still have another 75 to loose. Getting Protein in, doing my best on the liquid. Very frustrating. 1 ArtSong reacted to this
Jordan1923 27 Posted October 15, 2012 I need to slow down and go back on softer foods. I am such a fast eater, I think I am going slow, but I am really not. I might have to use a timer to pace myself. Arrggh I hate learning curves.
