Day 4 post op and still pretty rough. I screwed up my back laying in hospital bed for 2 days. Dr. Gave me some muscle relaxant but not doing much. Got a great massage today so maybe this will help. Evenings are the worst when trying to find a good place to sleep.< /p>

I had surgery on the 14th and so far so good. I only had to stay one night in the hospital and haven't had any problems. I was sore the first few days, but I slept proped up on the couch with my feet on an ottoman. I have a very tall king size bed so it was impossible for me to even try to get in it. I had my first follow up yesterday and it went great. I was walking the day of surgery, they didn't take my cath out until right before I was going to be discharged, then I had to pee a certain amount before they would let me go, which I had no problems doing. I did have a drain and when they pulled it out it felt like a worm was crawling across my belly under my skin, weirdest thing ever! Everyone is different and reacts different to the surgery. I was nervous becuase I had never had surgery before. Mine took about an hour, I was worried becuase I am a lot bigger than a lot of people I've known to have this surgery. But I"m doing great and already down 33 pounds! Monday I get to start semi-solid foods! So anyone who just had surgery or is about to, hang in there, once you get past the pain you will see how much it is worth it. I was second guessing my decision right until i was rolled into the OR and the next few days after. But now 2 weeks later I know it was the best decision of my life :)

Had my sleeve and a hysterectomy on Sept 28. Only pain I felt was from the drain tube. Getting around just fine. No pain drinking unless it is too cold. Getting in Protein and Water but apple juice taste the best... Surprised at how well i feel.

I had my surgery July 18th, with multiple complications. Blood clots, pnuemonia, a leak which lead to a bad infection, lungs had to be drainded twice. I spent 71 days in the hospital for a one day surgery. This is one surgery i wish i never had. I was'nt able to eat during these 71 days due to the leak. Now i have to learn to eat all over again. I'm home an thank you LORD!

Honey Bee, I am sorry you need to go through all of that.

but all of us need to learn how to eat, I am sure that it is harder for you then for us. But I really hope that with time pass you will forget the negative part of this surgery and will be looking forward to the progress.

How much you loose since the surgery?

Did your blood clots ever dissolve? Since you've been release, do you have to take blood thinners for awhile?

I was sleeved on the 17th. Really thought I was doing well. Last three-day I sleep a lot and have gotten behind on my Water. Not having pain, but burning if I bend the wrong way. liquids really getting old. Anyone else have these problems or am I worrying too much?

I had that probem and I had to go back in for a little boost.

I had mine done Sept 12 & I am doing great!!!! No issues with the actual surgery & no issues with anything I am eating except I am allergic to whey Protein. In fact, we had a bake sale for our United Way fundraising & I had to man our table & it didn't bother me one bit. I also had bought mini cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, which is my favorite & got frosting on my fingers when putting them into baggies-I did NOT lick my fingers, I wiped them off on a paper towel. I could not be prouder of myself!!

No mush-if you like Greek yogurt-make a shake using that (nonfat plain), Crystal light powder & ice, maybe add a little almond milk. Greek yogurt is 23 Proteins for 1 cup. Try different Protein Shakes too. I like the Pure Protein-they are pretty good.

Had my sleeve the 26th doing really good. I'm on mushy foods walking 3 mils a day and doing 10k steps and 8 floors on my fitbit :) dropping about a lb a day. Day of surgery I was 244.6 . Today I'm 237.0 5"6 36 years 3 kids :) don't really hurt much at all. I'm just blending whatever I cook for the Family or eating shrimp .

P.s typing badly I have lost my glasses again lmao. ;)

OK. Made it through 1st week. Had an awful back ache from laying in hospital bed. Now on day 8 and doing great. NUT moved me to phase 3 do glad I can eat real food. Down 34 lbs since start of pre-op. Felt great to be under 300 and to fit into shorts I haven't worn in years.

This was my best decision also. Sleeved on the 14th also. Took six full days off work, worked one week half days and on 10/1 went full time. As a teacher I am at full throttle! To date, 32 lbs. I started at 225 and want to get down to 170. My issues were diabetes type 2, hypertension, stress, reflux, high cholesterol, snoring, but mostly all the meds I would have had to take. Can't wait for new blood work to see if I can get off these meds. Blood sugars normal, blood pressure normal, exercising, and a lot more energy. Eating about 80 grams of low fat Proteins but still only about 700 calories per day. My main issue is drinking 64 ozs. of liquids each day. Keep it up!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
