On June 5th my surgeons office said it was now time to submit to my insurance for authorization . It's now mid July and my primary still has not sent my needed records.

End of June he had me come in so we could fill out surgeon forms together , and that is the only thing he has sent. They need the last six months of records. The girl in his office told the surgeons office, "if it's in his basket, he'll get to it when he gets to it". Can you believe it.?

Meanwhile although my pcp more than doubled my lantus, and now has me shooting up humalog three times a day , my a1c is still climbing and has gone from 5.7 to 10.4 in the last year, my body is covered in injection bruises, I'm hot and cranky, and I'm scared. Sure I want to be thin and look good, but what I really want is to avoid kidney damage, heart damage, nerve damage. I want a decent quality of life and a healthy measure of self esteem.

I feel stuck in the middle of two dr offices who are supposed to know what they're doing. I've done my homework, jumped through the hoops. I want this to go to the insurance company. And I realize that it may not be approved this time, but at least I can go on from there. Right now I'm stuck on the phone encouraging people to do their jobs. Arrrrrgh!

You can request copies of all your medical records- maybe fax them to insurance yourself? The other way to go is just to schedule a consult with your pcp so you can lock him down. The office girl sounds useless- your doctor may not even know he still has forms to do.

I agree. Schedule an appointment....only have him fill-out the forms during your appointment instead of checking you out for an illness. Apparently he has no time for paperwork and you are kind enough to help on your dime!

If this is the attitude his staff has I would also let him know (after you get approval) and then switch PCP. You have serious medical issues not a damn runny nose and it needs to be taken more seriously than "well get to it when we get to it." Whats going to happen if you have a complication or concern afterwards -- leave a message?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
