Hi Kaiser So Cal Sleevers:) I'm from so cal, as so cal as you can get;) Just starting this process. Found out Options class for KP members in San Diego County is 24 weeks. Also, I was told I need to show proof that I've attempted at least/min of a 3 month supervised diet in the past 10 years. Any other KP sleevers had to do this? I did weightwatchers back in 2004 online for way over 3 months with the point system thing, but I don't know how to get proof I did it, it was all online. I also did a supervised phentermine prescription/diet with a weight loss "clinic" but they're not sure they can give me any documentation because the girl at the front deskntol me they probably sent my file to storage:/ Sheesh!

Hi Ema76, first off WOW...sorry to hear that your are required to do 24 weeks. Sheesh, that is a long run of classes. I am in Corona and attened class at Kaiser in Corona, they only required 12 weeks of the Options class. I have completed my class, all my labs, and had my medical review on last Friday. Now, I wait for the final referral to the surgeon. I am not sure what happens from that point, from what I understand I would have to attend a seminar for the surgeon and that is all I know thus far. I have heard that all surgeons are different and have different requirements. Wish you the best on your journey, please keep us informed!

They HAVE to give you copies of your medical record.

This is copied from the Medical Board of California's website:

The patient or patient's representative is entitled to copies of all or any portion of his or her records that he or she has a right to inspect, upon written request to the physician. The physician may charge a fee to defray the cost of copying, not to exceed 25 cents per page or 50 cents per page for records that are copied from microfilm, along with reasonable clerical costs. By law, a patient's records are defined as records relating to the health history, diagnosis, or condition of a patient, or relating to treatment provided or proposed to be provided to the patient. Physicians must provide patients with copies
within 15 days
of receipt of the request.

http://www.mbc.ca.gov/consumer/access_records.html

The section does go on to say that if they need more time they have to notify you by ten days and the extended time can not be longer than thirty days

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
