2nd fill question

Recommended Posts

I am confused... some of you might say... what's new? LOL! ANyway, I had my second fill about the 14th of August and I have pretty much felt like I could eat whatever I wanted, but I have been careful not to over do it. OK, so I wake up this morning, eat my Breakfast and not long after its down I am in the bathroom at the sink wishing I could throw up, just alot of saliva and then I guess about 5 minutes, maybe more passes and I am fine. Went to lunch with my sister, same thing. Is this normal, does it sometimes take that long for a "FILL" to become noticable? I have another fill scheduled for Sept. 11th. Has anyone else had this happen? :)

That hasn't happened to me, as both of my fills took effect pretty quick, especially my second one. However, I have read a lot on this board of people saying it took one to two weeks before their fills kicked in. Nobody really knows why that happens, but for some, it just does. Maybe you are one of them.

Thanks y'all, I will take your advice. I know I am eatting too fast and maybe a tad too much. Seems like I just get so excited when its time to eat...LOL! Old habits...I will break them!

Mine was like that. But, maybe I was just being more careful right afterwards. A couple of weeks later, I think I was just more comfortable with it and not paying as close attention.

Yep, yep, I too have forgotten about the band and drank to fast or ate to fast and its a quick reminder. I never, never assume that becuse I ate somthing today that I can eat it again tommorrow every meal, every drink is its own story. I am tighter then some folks would be comfortable with but I love it and I respect the limitations I also love that the limitations are physical. And since no two days, Heck no two hours are the same tolerance I get to be a investigator of my own body and my own needs. Some times I do go for the higher calorie food becuse I can eat the recomended portion size. And be full and stay within my alotted calorie intake for the day. So I wish you well and hope you can be flexable about your needs with each meal. Best of luck to you. Vickie

My fills kick in after 6-9 days. Both times I had a reaction I PB'd on allowed food, chewed carefully, was not eating fast, etc. It just him me, bam! I can't seem to recover from then either. I go on liquids immediately, but that doesn't save me. I've had to go for a slight unfill. I'm beginning to understand my banded body a little more each day. I still get hungry and have to watch my every move or bite.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
