vickyt 12 Posted July 12, 2012 I had my worst day every yesterday. I started the puree part yesterday and didn't do well at all. Now today I have diarrhea and can't stop vomiting. Why did I do this?
GivingItMyAll 168 Posted July 12, 2012 What do you mean you didn't do well? Did you not tolerate the foods? Did you make wrong choices? Sent from my iPad using VST
Catracks 865 Posted July 12, 2012 First call your doctor if you are vomiting and voiding and not keeping liquids down. Dehydration is not good. After you get that under control, start by only sipping down a couple spoonfuls at a time at first. Use a baby spoon if you have one or a jam spoon. Now you are 5 weeks out? I didn't start pureed food "officially" until the start of the 5th week. Don't worry. The stomach heals and it gets better. 1 IsB reacted to this
vickyt 12 Posted July 12, 2012 No not 5 weeks, today is officially a week out. My nut told me to start the purée yesterday. I am not getting anything done so my vomitting is pretty much the Water from taking my meds and a lot of heaving. It hurts to get anything in cuz I can feel it drop in my stomach and hurts to much. Today I am finally able to drink some cold water. I completely regret this. I rather be fat so I can at least eat SOMETHING. And I have lost 25 lbs since my preop diet and it is so not worth all this and the sagging skin I already have. Never mind, thanks anyhow
Catracks 865 Posted July 12, 2012 One weeks out? Sakes! It's going to get better. All the sagging skin in the world is better than obese. You will be able to enjoy food again, but you will eat in portions that skinny people enjoy. You will feel so much better and look it. It's too late for regret. It's time to get to work. Just sip slowly. Suck on a popsicle. Try warm things or tepid things. I personally think that it is too soon for puree if you cannot tolerate them. Try going back to a least full liquids. Yogurt goes down especially well for me. 2 MamaMelly and vssupermodel reacted to this
circa 333 Posted July 12, 2012 Obviously your body is t ready for purees- go back to full liquids and try again in a few days. Wishin you were fat forever isnt going to make things better. Stop looking back and start looking forward. you didn't learn to ride a bike or tie your shoes the first time you tried either. Remember that you eat so your body has fuel. You don't live to eat. I was told not to advance my diet early, but that I could stay in a stage if my sleeve wasn't ready to move on. Sent from my iPad using VST

It's a learning process. You have to learn what your full signal is. For some it's a sigh. For some it's picking at food. For others it's hiccups, still others a burp. The key is eating slowly so you have time to gauge whether you are full or not. Measuring your food is another way. At first use fl. oz. measurements like in a measuring cup. Later you can weigh things. Now I can eat 3 oz. of dense Protein and 5-6 oz. of liquid or yogurt. I'm 6 months out. It was much less a two months -- maybe 1.5 and 3 respectively. If you overeat or eat too fast you can just sit there awhile or walk it off. It'll go away. Some people relieve it by doing the finger down the throat thing, but keep in mind that this could get habit forming for some. Not good.
JD7176 84 Posted July 13, 2012 Adolphs meat Tenderizer mixed with Water will get food up and out or down and out quickly. Never had to use it, but was recommended by my NUT.

Why did I do this? I started puréed foods today and the same with not feeling well and vomiting. I guess this is all a part of learning our sleeves. I figured tomorrow I will go back to my first two weeks regime and try puréed foods again next week.
