I'm 3 weeks out and can eat an entire large boiled egg. I make it into egg salad with Greek yogurt, mustard, cumin, and pepper. One of my favorite go to meals.

I'm 5 weeks out and have a scrambled egg with cheese and MAYBE bacon crumbles in a wonton wrapper for Breakfast. I LOVE using wonton wrappers. Helps making food portable and gives a little crunch!

So I ate an egg for breakfast sprinkled some shredded cheese for extra Protein. Only could eat half and my sleeve certainly let me know when to stop. Is it normal not to be able to eat medium egg?

I went to my 4 week post -op yesterday. I was telling my Dr. how the day before I had eaten scrambled eggs with mushrooms. I was in so much pain, and for the first time wanted to puke, but couldn't. He said when you scramble eggs in oil, that it makes them more rubbery, and it causes them to get stuck. He said, "why didn't you call me?" I said, what would you have done, he said it you use meat tenderiser and Water that it will clear the belly out. I told him I took the papaya enzyme and that helped, but it took a while. So be careful when you eat your eggs, that you make sure you chew them well.

I had only lost 3 lbs after my first one week post-op visit. She said I was eating too much, and I also had 2 1/2 pounds of Fluid. I thought how the heck am I eating too much, I hardly have anything. My Protein level was low, my Iron, and my Vitamin D. I told her about the Protein Bars, pure protein with 20 grams, and she said you have to make sure that it's low in carbs. It had 16 carbs per bar, along with my whey Protein Drink 8 grams of carbs and 26 protein, which I add another scoop of total soy with 13 grams of protein and 17 grams of carbs...she said the carbs should be kept at 5 grams. Sheesh, they say you feel better with more protein, but if you add more, then you're adding more carbs. Does anyone know which is the best high protein and low carb drink? I spent a lot of money on all this for nothing!?!?

I also wanted to state that I have lost a total of 19.6 pounds in 4 weeks, and 2 1/2 was water...I thought that was good, how much should we lose a month? My head is spinning with thoughts of doubt and anxiety, worring if I'll stretch my stomach, and be back at square one!! Any info would be appreciated....thanks...

P.S. My menu they gave me told me to have 1 scrambled egg and 1/4 cup of cream of wheat...can't eat more then one egg, and the nurse told me that I should only be eating a 1/2 and egg, my question, is why do they say one egg and you say 1/2. I almost feel like food is gross. My mind and eyes are so hungry, but my mouth and stomach says NO WAY!! I just hope I'm on the right track.

I've been having egg beaters for breakfast every morning. 1/2 cup of beaters with some 2% cheese, chopped up bell pepper and sometimes a little chicken or beef fajita meat. Keeps me full until lunch and sits well.

Ok here goes a really dumb question but the egg beaters are like egg whites right? Do you cook them like an omelette? Or scramble?

How much meat tenderizer vs. Water? Just use when food is stuck and unbearable? What is papaya enzyme?

Yes, scrambled, omelet the are just like regular eggs. They are egg white only but have a coloring to mimic the yellow. Also they now come in southwestern flavor, cheese and chive, and a few others. Some people might not go for them but I love them. Very low carbs, cholesterol, etc.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
