Weight Watcher's Smart Ones Or Lean Cuisine A Good Idea?

Recommended Posts

Hi there folks! I'm about to start on solid foods and I HATE cooking!

I was looking at bariatric specific foods, but they are rather expensive. So I was thinking about getting those weight watchers Smart Ones or the Lean Cuisine frozen meals.

What do ya'll think about them? I haven't gotten to meet with a nutritionist just yet, that comes Monday, but I just wanted to get a consensus here first!

Thanks!

IMO all frozen foods have too many preservatives, salt and carbs for your new lifestyle.

Even though you hate cooking - commit to attempting to cook once a week, freezing or storing in your new small meal size portions. A cooked chicken breast (20 min @ 400 degrees) will last me 2 meals minimum even now at almost 2 years out.

Throw in 3 breasts with different seasoning in oven. When done, cut into fourths. Freeze for 12 mini meals. Take out as needed - add to greek yogurt for a high Protein chicken salad. Add to Lipton broth for a wet chicken Soup. Sprinkle low fat cheese for a modified chicken quesadilla. Put in a teaspoon of BBQ for a modified pulled chicken taste. YUM.

Get a can of tuna or crab or salmon, drain, add greek yogurt & season. Will last you several meals for 3 days due to freshness of meat.

Boil 4 eggs. Make egg salad by adding greek yogurt and salt with two eggs. Other two cut in half - put yolks with greek yogurt and season making 4 deviled eggs.

Get turkey meat and low fat mozzerlla sticks. Wrap turkey around mozzerella stick for lunch.

Now, you have six ingredients to purchase and a weeks worth of meals. Costs less, better for you. Maybe 30 minutes of your time to invest in your health.

If you truly hate to cook and would prefer never to cook again - grab a friend to cook for you trading services. Or look up "Dream Dinners"

If you did this surgery to be healthy, start now. Time to get new healthy habits.

legal, nice response. I agree, I used to do the frozen meals but they are full of sodium and preservatives. You will find, you want quality food because you eat small portions so you want them to count, it helps with healing etc. I love brown turkey breat sliced from costco. That with a baby bel cheese round is my go to food, if I do not want to cook.

Go to emilybites.com and check out her cupcake recipes (lasagna, taco, etc). You can cook them and freeze them for a fast light meal anytime.

You're very welcome. I just noticed that you and I had the exact same starting weight and goal weight. When was your surgery?? By the way...the lasagna cupcakes are my favorite. I used ground turkey instead of beef. Plus...the recipe says you can make 8 cupcakes, but I always have more than enough stuff to make 12. They are the perfect size and fill me right up. Although now I am finding that I have to padlock the leftovers because my kids LOVE them. lol

I was going to say the same thing, those things become so redundant and bland after a while. I'm checking down Lean Cuisines now trying to lose more before surgery. LOLSince you eat such a small amount preparing and freezing will so much easier. :-)

I also hate to cook. I live alone, which makes for a truck load of leftovers. I eat a lot of Protein Bars, and string cheese. This is really easy to fit in with my work schedule, too. Sometimes I cook meals for dinner, and sometimes my parents invite me over and send me home with leftovers. Lol. Also, I try to add the Special K Protein pack mixes to my Water. Every bit helps! Oh, and I love to snack on mixed nuts, too.

My surgery was 6/11/12. Just got the go ahead to start adding real food! I'm so excited! No more all mushy.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
