How Do You Know You Can't Tolerate?

Recommended Posts

Im on week 3 and have had zero problem with anything Ive eaten. I cant eat alot at one time but nothing has made me sick. How do I know if Im sabatoging myself? Today I had a 3 oz can of potted meat, about 3 oz grilled tilapia, some diced mushy pears and 4 tsp of pineapple sherbrt. Seems like so much. Like Ive screwed the entire diet up. What is a typical day for 3+ weeks out?

I think it's mostly trial and error. My only problem has been drinking too much Water at a time because I have been so dang thirsty. It makes me nauseous. Other than that, foods have been tolerated well! Consider yourself lucky! :D

I was on full liquids until 5 weeks out. On Monday I was 5 weeks out and started pureed.

I had a Syntrax nectar Fuzzy Navel shake today, and I used 4 ounces of orange Isopure & 4 ounces of Water & ice to make it.

I had 1 medium size egg for lunch (scrambled egg) with like 2 tiny drops of ketchup (not suppose to have food too acid.

I had a sugar free pudding cup

for dinner I had about 1/2 cup Mrs. Grass chicken Noodle Soup (I skimmed around the noodles)

1/2 cup of skim milk

---

Yesterday I had the same thing for Breakfast and lunch but for dinner I had 1.5 ounces of pureed tuna with 1tbs light mayo and I couldn't eat it all - and I had 3 teaspoons of 1% cottage cheese - I didn't have a pudding cup.

I think avoiding the sugary things like sherbet may be a good thing for a while.

When or if I eat bread of any kind..it fills me up too quick. I might as well forget about eating anything else for a while..and I get a feeling like it's stuck. That's how I know I can't tolerate it well. If I want it, I take teeny bites and chew it till it's mush.

It doesn't sound like you are over eating. I would cut out the sherbet unless it's sugarfree. I would try giving myself a little more variety.

The reason why you are still on puree and mushy at three weeks is that many people are still kind of "numb" in the sense that you may put more on your stomach than you should - not can, should.

Stay on soft foods and liquids a little longer, and don't try for quantity you can stuff in there, but what you can to feel satiated...this is a learning process as much as getting in your calories. Long term you need to learn, just like any diet, to walk away before the full feeling.

We are dealing with a system more cmplex and less understood than the brain. The ENS

(Enteric Nervous System) is generally considered the second brain, and we have removed a HUGE portion of one of the main components of this system...steady and slow, we will eventually be "there" and it is forever - so just take it slow and really, really feel your body out - copious notes of every kind, and gentle use of your tummy.

One problem is, the surgeons are by no means the experts in this, actually - they just simply cannot be...they are a craftsman, we have to go forth now and pay attention to thereserch specialists - gatherers of data, and publishers of excellent papers.

My two cents...
