I knew there was something else I wanted to ask - does Dr. Garcia use a catheter?

I have read that some say their dr's did but put it in after being put under and took it out before they woke up. That helps a little, but really.....I personally do not want anyone messing around down there especially if I am asleep...ya know? I'd almost rather just be awake and know about it....

He does not use a catheter. As soon as I was taken in my room from surgery I was assisted to the bathroom. That was a concern for me too! He was great! The surgery went smooth and the nurses are so sweet.

I'm here in Meixico now, had surgery Mondy, 7/9 with Dr Garcia. My husband was really impressed with the care I recvd. everyday I feel a little better. the broth at the Marriott is good. Nurses at Mi hospital were always there with pain med, cleaning my wounds. It really is a great experience.

I'm still a little tired so sleeping quite bit. no catheter!

I am on the 24th. Going to Mi hospital and staying at the Marriott. Glad to hear that it is as good as I was told. So have a question--- before you went did you have any test done in the states? My pcp isn't included in this. He says I will need to find another pcp to treat me. Narrow minded man. Anyway reading the posts for US surgerys everyone is getting alots of test. I have no real health problems and that's partly why I want the surgery now before my weight causes them. What tests do they do in Mexico?

they do an EKG and bloodwotk. i'm not sure what they look for in the bloodwork. you'll be seen by a regular doctor and cardiologist before surgery. they'll examrn you and ask you health questions. you'll be in great hands! :) and the marriott is awesome!!

they do labs, EKG, in Mexico. They did tell me to me to make sure Ihave my labs repeated in 2 weeks when I'm back home in the US

by my PCP.

I'm am so sorry to hear that your PCP won't help you. I don't understand how your doctor will refuse you care. In Mexico, they take a complete health history. You see an anesthesiologist, Internl med doctor, Dr Garcia & they ask about your health history.

Hope this helps!

That you both so much. Maybe it was nerves kicking in. Hate tests anyway so not sure why I am concerned. I have complete faith that everything will go great. I may never look as good as my picture again, several years between then and now but am sure gonna try. I am one of those women that is going screaming in to old age. Vain well yes! I want to wear dresses again, I want my legs not to rub and my boobs to be in front not under my arms. I don't want to carry all this weight around until I am so sick from all the side affects of it that I have no life. Like my son said only so many years left and I should make them count. I am thankful I have a supportive husband. Maybe he wants a hottie again! Lol

How early did they start all the testing, and about what time did the finally do you surgery?

Dr Kelly does not. If surgery is under 90 min, a lot of surgeons dont

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
