Jeniluv1978 22 Posted July 11, 2012 I have read several comments about catheters, does everyone get one??? And how long was everyone's drain in for?
*susan* 1,709 Posted July 11, 2012 You know, I honestly don't remember having a catheter. Maybe I didn't have one? As for the drain, it was removed the day I was discharged.
nikki264 6 Posted July 11, 2012 I had a catheter, but every surgeon is different. It, and the drain, came out the next morning. Catheter hurt, drain was the weirdest feeling ever, both were over very quick.
Cindy H 6 Posted July 11, 2012 I had a catheter during surgery but it was out before I woke up because they want you to walk/pee as much as possible after you wake up. I had my drain in for 7 days. Having that removed.....well, dont forget to take deep breaths! Then you won't feel the weird feeling! It was over quickly though good luck!
Pookeyism 1,143 Posted July 11, 2012 I did not have a catheter, contrariwise, until they got me on the right pain meds I thought I was going to pee myself everytime I had to move. :/
JUDY1458 0 Posted July 11, 2012 Yes I had a catheter they took it out when I was release from the hospital and the drain is still in I got sleeved on 07/06/12 5 days ago and i go to get it remove tomorrow and removing the catheter hurt a little ...
kimmy*custis 276 Posted July 11, 2012 Had both, removed the next am, released at 12...didnt leave till 5...waiting for paperwork! Neither one was a big deal to me. Drain felt a little weird when he took it out but it was so fast...catheter was uncomfortable, not painful, even when removing.
Erin6573 10 Posted July 11, 2012 I had neither. I hear a lot of people talking about the drains, but I never had one put in. They threatened the catheter if I did not get up and get moving and pee, so I started moving. I had a catheter with one of my deliveries of my second son and it hurt. Lissa 2,631 Posted July 11, 2012 I don't remember a catheter, but I had a drain for 8 days. It wasn't a big deal, either while it was in or during removal.
Wheetsin 714 Posted July 11, 2012 Both my catheter and drain were removed the day after surgery, which is the day I was released.
keldolbeth 262 Posted July 11, 2012 I had neither! But, I did have a little trouble peeing after surgery. I was drinking a ton and had the urge to go but couldn't get it started. lol I literally sat on the toilet for 30 minutes without anything moving sometimes. It felt a little like a bladder infection because I had to go about every 1-2 hours throughout the night but could only manage a tiny tinkle despite sitting there for a while. BUT, everything was fairly normal 24-36 hours later. It wasn't painful, just annoying.
IlyssaDel 42 Posted July 11, 2012 Nope no drain and cath only during surgery , it was out before I woke up...ask your surgeon, I was worried about both myself , and was relieved to find out I didn't need to worry!
Jeniluv1978 22 Posted July 11, 2012 I'm afraid of a drain getting pulled out by accident if I'm sent home with one bc I have 3 dogs!!
IlyssaDel 42 Posted July 11, 2012 Did your surgeon say you will have a drain?..not all surgeons do them...I wouldn't worry to much, many people have had drains and I'm sure some have had more than one dog lol...don't worry about it!!!
