Do You Recommend To Purchase The Extra Coverage That The Doctor Offers In Mexico.? B

Recommended Posts

There's This insurance that I read here where the Dr. Offers you a coverage insurance in case something goes wrong.

Do you recommend it.? I'm having surgery next month and trying to get as much information I can .

Thanks.

If I remember correctly, that extra insurance only covers you if you continue to treat in Mexico. If you have to fly to Mexico every time you need/want to see a doctor, it might not be worth it for the extra insurance.

I disagree. u can get a roundtrip flight from 200-500$. If u have a leak or something major Ur medical bills will be way more expensive than that. I'm fortunate that who I went thru includes it in the price automatically. I went thru mexicosurgerysolutions.com and u can bet if I have any major complications I'll be going back for them to take care of it

When I went to MX I bought traveller's insurance that would cover me no matter where I was. It cost me around $20. I don't think getting extra insurance through the doctor is the way to go, but make sure you have travellers insurance that cavers you in MX.

I believe she is refering to insurance to cover your surgery post-op, follow up, complications, etc. Nothing to do with actual insurance for traveling.

I did alot of research about this, as it was one of my primary concerns. My surgeon (Dr. Kelly) told me that he would not charge me anything for his services in the event of complications, but that the hospital would charge for tests, extra nights stay, ICU, etc. In the end, I rolled the dice and took the chance. Dr. Kelly didn't mention having any sort of "extra coverage" that would pay for any of this.

The "traveller's insurance" can include medical, but if you read the policy carefully, you will see that it explicity excludes any medical care or treatment that is required due to "medical tourism".

I purchased travel insurance (including medical) with my air fare, because I was going to San Diego 2 days before my surgery and wanted coverage if anything happened to me between my departure from home and my arrival in Mexico. But I knew that the travel insurance wouldn't cover ANYTHING if I was in medical need after the surgery (unless I was hit by a car or something like that.....).

There are "medical tourism" policies available. See some info below:

There is ALOT more info on the web. Try using "Medical Tourism insurance coverage" as a search term in a search engine.

Some of the companies only cover certain countries. Most will have a fairly low cap on how much they will pay out. All of them are VERY expensive. And some will only cover you if you are in accredited hospitals (read their policy carefully before you buy it!).

I chose to forgo this significant additional expense because I had great faith in my surgeon's experience, his promise to take care of me in any event, and in my ability to return to Canada (assuming I could travel) for follow-up care (we have national healthcare here that kicks in, even if we have surgery outside of the country).

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
