I'm 3 weeks out & I craved a pickle & a cucumber and I started eating the pickle and ate the whole thing! Also, ate a cucumber and both did not upset my stomach at all... was able to eat all of the pickle... I've not been able to eat anything like that at all! I wasn't trying to eat the whole thing by the way... anyway, anyone else have foods that are okay like that? It scared me actually, I was thinking oh my word I ate this whole thing????

I'm 9 days out and I was wondering about the samething. I make a really great dish with, cucmbers, tomatoes, jalapeños, red onions and shrimp, with lime juice on top of the whole mixture and alittle bit of ketup for color. Well, this is a low-carb, low-fat dish. I was wondering if anyone else can eat ceviche still.

Haven't tried ceviche yet, but I have a small Cocktail de Cameron 2-3 times a week.

I'm 2 weeks out and just starting soft foods today according to my surgeons plans. Wow and you guys are on normal foods. I' m not suppose to until week 5&6. Citrus is a no no until after week 6 and I'm completely healed they don't want anything increasing acid levels and irritating the suture line. Guess every doctor plan is different, good luck and watch the spicy foods.

yeah I wasn't sure if I was supposed to eat a pickle or not but I did... I won't if I'm not supposed to but I was surprised that I could eat it... trust me not everything is like that... I've been only able to eat very little of anything else in my soft food stage....so when I ate the pickle I surprised.

3rd week I was only able to eat soft foods according to my diet plan set forth by my doctors office. If you don't know what you're supposed to eat, you might talk with your nut first,,eating the wrong thing can cause some damage. Be careful :)

Well I decided not to eat anything else other than what I'm suppose to be on right now. I got weighted in again today and I'm 22lbs lighter since my surgery on july 3rd. I feel great and statsfied. : ) thanks everyone for your support with this.

I live in Panama and I started trying Ceviche about 3.5 weeks out. I had no problems but it was very citrusy. Now I have found a brand that I like and it is going down great! It's the custom here to eat it with saltine type crackers so I do miss those right now.

I am wondering why you are not following your doctor's diets? At 5 weeks I choked on a small piece of chicken. All I hear is that your foods this early out will stretch the sleeve. I went through too much for this. Please be careful.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
