When Does The Gas Stop? Ever?

Recommended Posts

Granted, I'm only four days post-op, but I'm still burping and farting up a storm (lol) and I'd be REALLY happy if that would go away. How long does it take?

Oh what I would do for a nice fart. It goes away. Take your Gas-X and make sure you are taking something for acid reflux.

I would also kill for a liquid in and liquid out. I miss that too.

I'm at 5 weeks at it does go away. It gets replaced by other things. During the 3rd week the liquid in and liquid out stopped on me and farting seems to have to be forced.

For the burping though, are you drinking out of a Water bottle or are you using a med cup (or something small like a shot glass?)

We were given med cups (one ounce cups). I take in a lot less gas and feel less bloated and feel so much better when I drink out of that than a water bottle or regular size glass.

Being 5 weeks out, I need to get off my little one ounce shot glasses, but there is a HUGE difference sipping out of them and sipping out of a Water bottle.

Best of luck to you.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
