Weird Food Preferences Post-Op?

Recommended Posts

I love eggs... Always have, always will. Any way you cook them, I'll eat them, but since being sleeved I've discovered that unless they've got ketchup on top (something I never would have eaten before,) I can't eat them. chicken HAS to have BBQ Sauce on top no matter how it's prepared, broccoli has to be steamed plain with no cheese...

I realize that food wise our tastes have changed but I'm just curious what other "weird" food preferences others have now that they may not have had before.

I used to love eggs too but now they make me dump. I used to like seasoned foods but now my taste buds are ultra sensitive and I love plain foods like plain oatmeal. On another note my sense of smell is heightened

I used to salt almost EVERYTHING. I haven't picked up a shaker, but to cook with in 7 months.

I used to love eggs, especially eggs benedict. But now I don't reach for them that much unless I put a conscious effort in. Right now I love cottage cheese with sardines, something I never considered eating together at all. I got the idea of eating tuna and cottage cheese through this website, but have since preferred sardines instead...

Sorry, the salt thing wasn't weird. I can't top sardines and cottage cheese, but how about Peanut Butter spread on roast beef or chicken?

On the contrary, somehow I enjoy now using more salt than before being sleeved. Before the procedure, I didn't like using salt. I was more of a sweet tooth person. Now I enjoy some Snacks that tend to be salty, like peanuts, olives, etc.

The weird thing is that now, I really don't like most dairy products. I don't enjoy yogurt, nor milk, if I do eat ice cream, it's usually lime or mango ice cream which are pretty much Water based (I haven't seen that too many times int the US, but those are common flavors here in Mexico).

I used to love coffee but now even the smell of someone else near me with it almost makes me sick to my stomach

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
