Happy Camper 266 Posted July 10, 2012 Suzi, As time goes by you should be feeling better, not worse. I would give your surgeons office a call, it does not hurt to talk and may help ease your mind if nothing else. Btw- Are you getting your fluids in? Have you been walking and deep breathing to clear your lungs? Best to you.
angelakay2 117 Posted July 10, 2012 I continued my breathing exercises. Are you? I felt like it was helpful. They told me I could develop pneumonia from not clearing my lungs. Good luck and keep us posted!
Gene1970 179 Posted July 10, 2012 As much as it hurts to cough right now that's what you need to do... BIG coughs to clear your lungs. I had to hold a pillow tight around my stomach to do it so that it didn't hurt but it helped. Angelakay2 is right, you have to keep those lungs clear or you could develop pneumonia. Keep up on the breathing exercises too. I hope you are feeling better soon!!!!
Pookeyism 1,143 Posted July 10, 2012 You need to go to a doc, and get checked out ASAP - right now is just not a time to stress your stomach with repetitive heaving. Even if it doesn't develop into a leak, it can hinder your healing ALOT. My Mom passes away a week after my surgery (six months ago tomorrow), and the crying and such really did a number on my stomach - the doctor thinks it is the main reason I had so much trouble transitioning (some days better than others, still) to solid foods. He said he sees it in people who catch colds and such after the surgery g othrough the same thing.
