This Was Supposed To Be A Great Day.

Recommended Posts

As a parent of a child with some chronic physical disabilities, I wanted to reach out. I have felt that scare. I am sorry.

For years, we have cared for our kids... And did what was needed, especially my wife.

I was left tired, discouraged and fat at 45. A walking dead man at times.

The hope of this surgery has been life giving!

If I could encourage you, it would be to... to take time for you, enjoy this journey, trust and connect.

Peace, Chad

I may be a little late, but my son also had seizures from the age of 18 months until the age of 5. He also was in the hospital and given all the neuro tests and nothing conclusive but he was put on the seizure meds. I hated the way they made him lethargic and slow. I took him from doctor to doctor looking for an answer and finally found a gift from God. This doctor took the time to explain that my son had a "Febrile Seizure" condition. Basically his body did not react to a virus or infection in the normal way. So when there was an infection present his temp would go up but his body did not hate a "thermostat" to contol the fever and so when it got too high his brain would seize his body - basically to cool it down. The doctor basically taught me to keep a thermometer in his baby bag and check it once a day. If he did have a fever, I gave him tylenol and kept an eye on the fever. As long as I controlled the fever with meds, tepid baths and and cool cloths he didn't have a seizure. The only times that he seized from 18 months to 5 years was when he got sick during the day at the nursery and they did not realize it, but it wasn't often. Maybe this is what your son has and NOT epilepsy. You are his strongest advocate, make sure they have the right diagnosis! Good luck and God Bless!

BTW - Sounds like you have a great support network -- Have the surgery! It will be a gift to yourself and your family!

I'm so happy to hear your son no longer has seizures! It makes me happy and hopeful. I'm not sure if ours has the same because throughout all the seizures he's never had a temperature. They did CT and EEG on his brain and it wasn't epilepsy, he just has seizures. I was told the medication does make them tired but they eventually get used to it so we'll see in a few days if he improves.

So happy he is not having seizures and you are at home!

Also pleased to hear you are going ahead with your liquid diet! A healthy fit mum is so important!

Keep us updated on your journey :)

We got let out of the hospital Wednesday morning. He was put on anti-seizure medication and had been seizure-free for 24 hours so we were allowed to leave.. thank god, we all hated the hospital. However on Thursday night and Friday morning he had more seizures right before his medication runs out so we were told to up the dosage. Seems to be working now... no seizures since then and he's finally acting normal again except a little tired. He's been acting more cuddly and wanting to hug mommy and daddy a lot so there is that.

Today finally felt like a normal day and liquid diet has been great, not even suffering. Thank you so much for asking!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
