I Feel That People Judge Me Ar Work Because Of My Weight....our Is It Me Judging Myself Through There Eyes?

Recommended Posts

It's palpable...the disgust in their eyes. The question about why is she fat, why can't she just stop eating or exercise more. I just wonder if I'm the one thinking it And projecting. Either way, august 18th can't come fast enough. I even email my surgeon today to see if they had any cancelations.

I feel the same way all the time. When I go into restaurants or anywhere there are others. At least there are a lot of us now ithat are overweight than it was 20 or 30 years ago. Sometimes when someone is forced to sit next to you in an office or other place they kind of move all the way to the side of their chair as if the fat may rub off on them. These same people will want to be your friend when you lose weight. How absurd it that?

There's really no way of knowing. A lot of people are honestly and truly disgusted/repulsed by fat people. And on the other hand, when we feel bad about ourselves, we tend to assume others see it in us. Not just projection, I don't think, since most of us have some historical experiences to tell us it might actually be true.

Both! Society judges us, andn we judge ourselves based on society's opinions and idea of ideals.

A little bit of both... I feel the exact same way. I feel like that sometimes when i go to job interviews... they are judging me not on my skills or experiences but on my weight!

I've never felt judged at an interview, but I've had co-workers (almost all of whom are male) say things like, "Yeah that new girl is super thin and cute so of course there was a line of guys outside her office waiting to talk to her..." Hellloooooo... I just saved your butt on your last 50 projects... you could at least mention my white teeth or something... ^_^

Absolutely!!! I feel like the more weight I have gained, the more of a nobody I have become at work....almost the forgotten one. I am sure it is that I am now so self conscious about it that I am not putting myself out there like I once did, but there are times that I have had to talk myself out from behind the reflection I thought people saw in me.

I am very happily married, but I agree....it stings when the oohs and awes are always directed elsewhere.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
