Has anyone been required to do a liver CT? Why would the dr’s want one from you? I havn’t heard anyone needing one and am kinda starting to freak out about it.

They may just be wanting to see if you have a fatty liver, which most overweight/obese patients have. When one does have a fatty liver, a diet, whether low carb low calorie, or liquid diet, may be in order.

Most doctors just put patients on diets, but again your doctor may be wanting to know for sure to eliminate diets if not necessary. I cannot speak for the doctor however, this is just an assumption.

What I am worried about is I asked this question on the local support board I follow through my insurance and they didn't know what I was talking about. I'm going to one of my classes tomorrow, so hopefully I will get more answers then. But in the mean time, I will drive myself crazy with Dr. Google :P

Ct scan? I had to have an ultrasound. There were spots on my liver so I had to have a MRI done.

I have my CT in the morning. When I sent a message to my provider, she just stated that there was some vague findings on my previous imaging studies."

I’m pretty sure that it will be just a fatty liver, and refuse to let myself psych myself out until I hear any different. Now, until I do hear from them, I think I will put myself on a more restrictive diet. Thinking about doing 2 shakes a day with a small meal and a couple Snacks. I think this will only prepare me for the almost all liquid diet that they will put me on.

Hey babyblues, I went in for my ultrasound and they found something on my kidney and required a CT to see what it was. For nearly a week I made myself crazy on google, I was already scared about the What IF's. I am thankful that it was nothing but swelling on the kidney and it was benign. I honestly didnt want anything to hinder my Sleeve, crazy huh. I will pray all is well with you and nothing is abnormal with your CT, please let me know what happens!

I know this is old but, can you tell me what the spots on your liver was? I went in to be sleeved on the 20th of march and when I was opened up in the OR my liver was full of spots... They are going to do a liver biopsy and still waiting on pathology results...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
