Just Started Mushies And I Have ?

Recommended Posts

I am sure this is a something that happens in the beginning but I just need a bit of reassurance. I just started full mushies and I am pretty much sticking to scrambled eggs, soft canned corned beef with over easy egg yolk only etc.. I am getting this feeling like I either need to burp or vomit. It has happened 3 times in a row now but I have not burped or vomited. Again, I am sure this is common but I would like for it to stop if I can make it so. Any advise or tips would be so appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Yes, it is common. I actually do burb and that's my signal to stop eating. Everyone has a different signal. But, I would also mention that some people have trouble with eggs. You might try eating some canned chili ground up (good processor or blender) or refried Beans. They are both high in Protein. Other things that I did successfully during the mushy stage was to blend canned Soups and maybe add some different spices to make them taste better. Mix it up a little so you don't get bored with the eggs.

Thanks for the tip, I did not know that I could have a chili, I love chili.

That feeling of needing to burp is my signal that I'm close to over-full, with nausea next if I take one more bite. My wife bought me a bunch of the 3-oz paper bathroom cups for measuring my meals. One cup is my limit, and until I learn to police myself better on speed and food volume, the cups are sparing me the grief of the technicolor yawn.

When I get that feeling its from eating too quickly or not chewing well. I've been focusing on eating more slowly this past week and have not had that feeling.

This happens to me as well. Usually the first few bites results in my belching once or twice and then I'm good with the rest. :)

I just started mushies today. Tomorrow I'm going to try an egg. I found a recipe for a scrambled egg, add one laughing cow cheese, one tsp. milk mix well break up the cheese as best you can. Cook the egg. This makes the egg creamy, I'm thinking this will help it go down easier for us. I hope so, I love scrambled eggs. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
