Old Crush Weds Super-Obese

Recommended Posts

So, I had a huge crush on my friend in college, but I always thought I was too fat for him (I was 5'6" and about 185 lbs at the time). I've just learned that he married one of our classmates who was at least 300 lbs the whole time I knew her and still is now. They have two kids.

I let my body image hold me back when clearly I shouldn't have.

Awww I know what you mean. I'm 5'10' and even at 150 lbs which made me skinny, I still felt like I was 300 lbs and it DID hold me back. Wish I new then what I know now.

Unfortunately, society screams at us everyday that thin is in and fat is not where it's at. It's sad that we become conditioned that we're not good enough. Just remember, you ARE special and you DO matter and people who matter see that... no matter what your wieght registers.

Story of my life.

That is exactly what I went through, NJChick.

WHY didn't I take advantage then? I was too busy worrying about how I looked to ENJOY the benefits of how I looked. :scared:

I won't make that mistake again.

If I get the body I hope for, then I promise to only use it for evil, never for good. :)

Just watch me... LOL :paranoid

I watched my mother wait her whole life, it was one long "we'll go do X when I've lost Y pounds." I decided that I would never let my size or weight stop me from doing anything.

The only time I let it stop me if if I phsycally can not do something because I dont' fit the saftey requirements.

courage and strength!

Mine too, Vines. Thats one of the biggest reason I chose to have WLS!!!

Gonnadoit,

We've all had so many weight related rejections that our sheild of self-protection is on high alert.

Finding one guy out of 200 that gives an overweight girl a second look is a rare find.

Don't beat yourself up over it... Main thing is that it wasnt meant to be!

Maybe this situation occured to give you more self-confidence to approace Mr. Right? ;)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
