WARNING - GROSS pics attached

Recommended Posts

I had requests for pics of my tube coming out of my port. Don't look if it will gross you out! Sorry, couldn't find the famous purple bra, but I did find this slutty hooker glove for your enjoyment. DeLarla's back... feeling much better emotionally since I have a plan and a surgeon to help me Thursday morning.

Oh geeze, did I actually post that? My stomach looks all gross like that from all the surgical tape that I've added to my daily wardrobe... and lovely nails. Had to give up my bi-weekly manicures to pay for my band. Someone else better put some underwear pictures up before I get arrested alone!

You still have me laughing with all this pain..

So what's the plan: Thursday or Saturday? Is the surgeon Lopez? I say you get down there ASAP

i agree whats the plan!!!

LOVE the slutty hooker glove! did you get the snag in it from working? YOU ARE FREAKING HILARIOUS even with tubing coming out of your belly. what a trooper.

the tissue around the inscision and the tubing doesnt look as bad as i was expecting. maybe the infection isnt to bad and they can just stitch you up.

thanks for sharing the pics. i do miss the purple bra though :phanvan

No, Shelly, I didn't tear the glove while working. That's from when my pimp slapped me around. I probably popped the tube out myself from laughing so hard on these boards!

Vera, were you one of my angels that passed my problem along to Ann Marie? My phone rang off the hook last night (finally) with tons of options.

Here's what went down: Yesterday Nora promised Lopez would call me at 1:00. I was going to wait till 2, but then thought "no way" and called at 1:10. Nora actually answered & put me through to Lopez, who said he was looking at the pics for the first time (one week after I e-mailed them.) He was unaware of any of my attempted calls or problems. I complained severely about their promise for 24 hour ER help and Nora & Carmen's lack of care & attention. He apologizied sincerely and said he'd correct that.

1/2 hour later I called Nora to ask how much this would cost me, but she didn't know. I told her it was urgent she find out and call me back immediately, and she promised she would. She didn't. By the time I got home she still didn't call, so I called Dr. Kuri, who was on the phone within minutes. He was patient, inquisitive, knowledgeable, kind. He agreed with what Dr. Lopez said might happen (removal of port then replacement at later date.) However, he said he won't know until he sees the wound. So I made an appointment.

After I spoke with him, Ann Marie called, who works with Lopez in the US by referring patients thru belighter.com. She heard of my problem and said she was meeting with Lopez last night (she's there at a band convention.) Her plan was to give him an ultimatum to hire a US rep for his American patients, and she had a person ready to accept the position. She asked me to stay with Lopez, but I told her "send him my love and respect when you see him but tell him he lost a patient since Nora screwed up her 2nd chance."

I have an appointment with Dr. Kuri Thursday morning. The plan is to hit the road at 3:00 a.m., stop at 7:00 a.m. to go potty at La Madam's restaurant, then to the border. Murphy and his damn rules - I finally meet a friend who owns a restaurant and offers me food, but Doc says no eating that morning. How wrong is that?

Lisa,

I hope this isn't too foward of me (if it is just tell me so) but I'm curious what Dr. Kuri is charging you to fix this. I'm sooooooo glad you got some help and I think the sooner, the better!

ACKKKKKK! OMG, Lisa, I would be SO freaking out if that was MY tube coming out of my tummy. Girl, you are one brave woman.

Love the glove, by the way.... :D

I am so glad you have the plan, and are getting this taken care of ASAP. Hopefully Dr. Kuri will find that the infection is all cleared up and that there is no need to remove the port, and he can stuff all that stuff back in where it belongs, and you never ever have to see it again. That is my fervent wish and hope for you!!!

I wasn't paying attention so I didn't catch where La Madam's restaurant is, but just FYI - traffic on a workday morning around here sucks BIG time, and starts backing up as far north as Escondido on the I-15 by 7am. I'm not as familiar with the I-5 that time of day, but it also experiences hellacious backups (don't know if you're using the I-15 or the I-5 - probably the I-15, right?).

I only mention this in case you might want to consider hitting Escondido no later than 7am on a work day - may take you almost 2 hours to get to the border from there. I really have no idea, I just know that the 16 miles from Escondido to Mira Mesa can take 30-45 minutes in congestion... :(

Now watch you take my advice and hit the border at 8am with nothing to do for two hours... :(

Drive safely, KEEP US POSTED, and keep looking for that purple bra... lol :(

Marsha, you're asking me if that's too forward while my picture is posted in my underwear? Nothing is too forward in my book!

I don't have an answer though. The girl that referred me to Kuri had the same problems with Lopez, so Kuri did her repairs. She said Kuri was much cheaper than Lopez by far. I told Dr. Kuri that I don't have $1000 or $2000 for surgery, but he said not to concern myself with money for now because the important thing is to fix me. Someone said he may offer me very fair payment arrangements, but he knows I'm coming without that kinda dough. He gave me the impression that keeping up with the band's good reputation is very important to him. One bad band makes all bands look bad. I think he's just concerned with healthy band patients. Maybe that's his motivation for his generosity, or maybe he's just a wonderful man, just for sport. I hear he raffles off free bands at his yearly band reunions (one coming up in September.) If they refuse to take me, I'll barter with one of my kidneys.

Donali, is a big concern of mine. La Madame is in Mission Viejo. She said I'd be driving against the grain of bad traffic. I've never driven to San Diego from Vegas, so I don't know what to expect. Maybe I'll leave an hour earlier. I don't even know which route to take. I guess I'll go to Yahoo Driving Directions and use my address and the San Diego Airport? Anyone have the address to the border?

Donali is not a big concern of mine. The sentence was supposed to say "traffic is a big concern." Getting to the border 2 hours early wouldn't be a problem.

Shelly, SHUT UP. You're killing me! How am I supposed to work with this kind of entertainment?

The Mexicoach station where you can park and walk across is 4570 Camino de la Plaza

San Ysidro, CA 92173

http://gototijuana.com/bsp/

http://www.bajalife.com/bordercrossing/

If you come south on the I-15, it eventually turns into the I-5 - you don't have to do anything fancy. Take the last exit before the border (LOTs of signs saying THIS IS THE LAST U.S. EXIT), and you will see the parking lot of the Mexicoach station at the end of the exit on the right.

Mission Viejo is off the I-5, about 56 miles north of Escondido. I'm thinking it would be out of your way if you're coming down the I-15, but if you come down the I-5 you're still waaaay north of where traffic is going to get pretty nasty. :D What time does the restaurant open??

I'm taking the 15 south out of Vegas. Are you saying the 15 turns into the 5, then I just take the 5 all the way to the border?

Maybe it's better that I stop at La Madam's on the way back to avoid possible complications. I'm not allowed to eat or drink, so I won't have to go potty anyway. On the way back at least I'll be able to sip some juice and not worry about traffic. Thanks for the info!

Yeah, the I-15 turns into the I-5 waaaay south. Just stay the course, and eventually you will be merged onto the I-5.

I think hitting La Madam on the way back would be a safer idea. (that's a FIGURATIVE "hitting"!! :D )

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
