Roll Call Nurses Being Sleeved ...........

Recommended Posts

I got my date--August 28 & have already been on the pre-op diet a couple of weeks.

I supervise a team of nurses that work all around the state & plan on telling them Monday. I told the 2 people that work with me in the office today, along with the 4 people that share the cube rows with them. No negativity, I just said the decision is right for me. Got a lot of great encouragement & a couple of comments about how "brave" it was for me to be so open about it--but quickly added that they know I don't give a darn what anybody else thinks. They know me well....

I am all set! I started my pre-op diet this morning and will have surgery August 22. Scared and excited all at the same time! My surgeon wants me off work for six weeks and this will slide right into a planned two week vacation. I won't be going back to work until about the third week in October. I still haven't figured out what to tell people at work. A few of my good friends know I am having WLS' date=' but most do not. I figure it will all come out in the end, but for now I am just not ready to deal with any negative comments and it feels too private. I feel somewhat embarrassed that I have allowed myself to get into this situation in the first place. However, I am so grateful this tool is available to help me achieve my goals and maintain my health.[/quote']

Congrats!!! I'm so excited for you. :)

Any nurses returned to work at 3 weeks or less? I'm a week post op, and I can't make it through a single day without a nap, or passing out at 9pm. I'm a surgical NP throughout the week, and I work compressed weekends as an OR nurse on the night shift as a second job. I really can't afford to stay out longer. Are y'all taking anything for energy? I'm starting to worry. Thanks for any advice.

My plan is 10 days. I do home care. Most strenuous stuff I do is get in and out of the car and walk up steps.

I'm a psych nurse. Not physically intense and we work 8 hour shifts. I went back at 3 weeks. I still have days where I'm utterly exhausted. I think I really got back into my groove at 5 weeks. Take breaks to eat, stay on top of your liquids and Proteins.< /p>

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
