notime 340 Posted July 9, 2012 Having no support is more than difficult. I'm glad you came here where lots of support is available. Have you gone through the whole approval process yet?

Thinner Peace 24 Posted July 9, 2012 Have you been in therapy or met with a psych since 6 years ago? One thing that was made clear was that we had to have any depression under control before going through surgery because many go thru depression after surgery that didnt have it prior. Also, if you are on any meds you will want to see if you can get them in liquid form. If you have not met with your psych for 6 years you may want to get a 2nd opinion regarding your diagnosis and medication. Some of your symptoms definately sound like anxiety, depression, poor self esteem, but bipolar can often be misdiagnosed as borderline or some other form of depression. I would recommend getting into some type of support group or counseling because this surgery can bring up a lot of issues that we have stuffed away with food and we need to made sure we have alternate coping skills in place. Good luck to you!

JennyB 25 Posted July 9, 2012 How old where you when that diagnosis was made? I was told that I was when I was 16, truth of the matter is that I was going through a very traumatic time in my life, I didn't tell anyone what was going on and my family just knew something was wrong with me and so they packed me off to the doctor and they met with me for 20 mins and wrote a RX and put a little label on me that made the next several years of my life a living hell! Just saying if you haven't been to a therapist as an adult, you need to go back....I cannot tell you how much this has helped me!
