Stuck With The Number On The Scale?!? Help :(

Recommended Posts

I kind need help on this...

**My surgery was May 15, 2012 (240 lbs)**

2 weeks later was my 1st Dr. Check-up... Well at that time I was (211 lbs)... Since then everything was better n better right?!? Well, when I made my month I join back to the gym... Here is where everything starts... June 15, 2012 (207 lbs)...

I start doing (Zumba on M-W) and I have my personal trainer M-F 1 hour, plus I walk 1hour in the afternoon, I eat healthy n in small portions, also I throw up almost everything I eat everyday... Don't ask me why cuz idk... I don't eat to get full, n most of my snack is a grapefruit n the only Protein I can tolerated is tuna... Water 24/7... My next Dr. Check-up is on the 25th... And the sad part is I'm still (207 lbs)...

What I'm doing wrong?!? Is anyone having or had at one point this situations also?!?

At this point I want to give up.. And just think that this surety waesnt for me... I just read n see how 98% of everybody that had the surgery are doing so well at there 2 month n I'm just stuck.

Any suggestion?!?

Gracias, :)

also I throw up almost everything I eat everyday...

For starters, I would address this with your doctor ASAP. You should not be throwing up almost everything you eat on a daily basis. I can understand occassionally, which would usually point to not chewing enough, taking too large of bites or eating too quickly.

Don't worry about the scale. If you have read threads from other people posting about slow loss or stalls, the #1 advice is to throw away the scale. IMO, for the first 2 months, the scale is meaningless. Your body is going through a major change and trying to make adjustments. It is going to retain fluids and release them, go into starvation mode ... basically, you have thrown it a HUGE curve-ball. It is going to take some time to adjust, so put the scale away and keep believing in yourself and the program.

It will happen. Just keep doing what you are doing. Down deep in your head, you have to know that if you consume 800 calories a day yet burn 2,000 calories a day, eventually, you will lose fat. Just know that you will also lose muscle, so you have to keep with your program at the gym and try to get in your Protein.

This will work. Don't give up.

PDxman is totally correct. Contact your doc today, this is not normal. You will lose the weight, it will take time. Throw away the scale if you have to. Or put it in a place where it's really hard to get too. :)

Ditto to seeing doctor about throwing up and getting off the scale. One other thought is that I imagine with all the exercise you are doing, you are also gaining muscle, which is a good thing. More muscle increases your metabolism. My NUT told me when you hit a stall, pay attention to the way your clothes are fitting and not the scale. I am willing to bet that major, good changes are happening to your body that the scale hasn't caught up with yet!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
