I was sleeved on March 14th...have lost 43 pounds since surgery...BMI went down from 35 to 31...looking great...feeling great. I am just worried because I have been hungry. When I eat, it doesn't take much to fill me up but I get hungry quick. I know that I am not eating my Protein like I should and have been snacking around (that's what got me here in the 1st place). I went on vacation for a week...ate like crazy...then I was off last week...ate like crazy. Luckily, I didn't gain any but I haven't lost any either in the past 3 weeks. I know what I am supposed to do but gotta get my mind set on it. I just really had to vent and get it out of my system. Any suggestions on how to get back on track mentally. What do you eat that is filling to you w/o getting hungry quick.

Not a post opper, but the answer is going to be dense Protein. It stays in the sleeve longer and delays the hungry feelings.

You might be having issues with reflux too. Or maybe thirst.

Yep, your answer is Protein. Also, make sure you aren't drinking 30 minutes before or after you eat.

Even pre-op, sometimes feeling hungry actually means you are thirsty / dehydrated. Be sure you are drinking your Water, as well as eating Protein first.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
