Finally Passed The 150Lb's Lost Mark!

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery back in November so its been a little over 7 months and I am officially down 151 lbs. Things have slowed down the past 4-6 weeks but it is still coming off. I definitely understand what everyone means by the "honeymoon" phase now and it really helps to lose as much as you can during that period. I've got 69 lbs to goal and I will have lost half my initial weight.

Thanks StormWarning!

Natty76 - I remember reading the boards prior to my surgery and that phrase caught my attention. Also on the first post-op my surgeon used the phrase as well and basically told me that you are going to do good during the first 6 months almost no matter what because you have lots of restriction. However, the difference between doing good and great is being disciplined to eat your lean Protein first, limit starches/carbs/sugars, add in some form of moderate exercise, and don't start back the old habit of mindless snacking. Hopefully that all makes sense but let me know if you have any questions. Good luck and thank you!

Guys breeze through weightloss. Not to trivialize, at all, what you have accomplished. It's awesome. But you guys are the hares to our tortoises and 150 lbs in 7 months is just flooring.

I stalled through about 1/3 of my homeymoon phase. Think I'll get a mulligan? ^_^

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
