Massage with band

Recommended Posts

I am a massage nut...and usually get one once a month. But I am just shy of 2 weeks from being banded and I'm wondering when it will be safe to lie on my stomach for and hour with someone pressing hard on my back. Anyone have any experience with this?

Ok, a bit OT, but I have never had the joy of having a massage. I have always been too embarrassed about my fat rolls. I guess that is something I have to look forward to after my weight comes off. I can make it one of my rewards.

Ii've had a couple of massages since being banded and have had no negative experiences...I do inform the therapist beforehand, though.

I had my first massage at about 2 weeks out. It was wonderful!

Wow, that would not have worked for me. I had a hard time just lying on my stomach to sleep for the first two weeks, nevermind someone pushing on my back! I think I would've been really touchy about people touching me during that period. I tried to move as little as possible. I probably would've waited a month before getting a massage.

Hi,

I'm a massage therapist. If you're uncomfortable on your stomach, ask your therapist if she can do your back while you lie on your side. Are you comfortable laying on your side? Or if that won't work, perhaps she can do your back while you are in a sitting position.

As a therapist, I would try to make an effort to perform an effective massage and be open to trying different positions which are comfortable for my client.

Good luck. I firmly believe everyone needs a good massage...

I have had 2 massages in past two weeks, NO PROBLEMS. I just tell the massusse when she looks at my stomach that I just got back from IRAQ.

I am a week out, and had a massage yesterday. I tried laying on my stomach in bed ahead of time just to make sure I could do it. But I had no problems at all. And, it was GREAT!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
