I am considering getting on weight watchers? Anyone do that? Any success?

I've done it twice. It works just not for me. I'm not the type of person to track everything I eat, counts points, or go to those God awful meetings. I've tried to just do it online and that doesn't work for me either. IF you don't have any issues tracking your food. You should be fine.

I really like the WW program. Other than hypnosis, it was the only successful attempt I made at losing weight pre-op. I think WW really helped me learn easy ways to track my food, which has been key to my success post-op. I also learned a lot of healthy eating habits (1/2 apple with cheese stick instead of bag of chips at snack time!), and some good tricks for dealing with emotional eating, head hunger, and snarky family and friends during the losing phase and beyond.

I loved the WW meetings and also enjoyed WW online. But I could not get my hunger under control enough to get to a healthy weight with WW.

I generally weigh my food because I find it easier than measuring. So hard to know what a cup of watermelon is, but very easy to figure out 140 grams of watermelon. At first, I wrote all foods down, but now that I'm at goal and several months into the rest of my life, I track in my head, just minding Protein and a general idea of calories in.

I have done WW so many times over the last 35 years. Now, being 4 years out from VSG, I have had some regain. I just rejoined WW the other day because I thought maybe if I had some sort of accountability other than just myself, I could get back on track. I really have had issues with "life style change" post op and that's why I struggle. I'm not sure if WW is what I need, but it has to be better than what I'm doing right now!

A few years ago I did Weight Watchers and lost 100 lbs. Their first Points system worked really well for me, but of course I started to feel cute and decided that I didn't need to go anymore and gained back 80 lbs before I knew it. A few weeks ago before I commited to the sleeve I went back to see if I could take some of the weight off myself and found that their new Points program didn't work nearly as well. The weight loss was a lot slower than it was the first time around even though I followed the program exactly as directed. I was bummed to see that it had changed so much. :(

Pre-Sleeve...I had also lost a vast amount of weight (90#). Just like you, I started feeling cute and basically pretty much stopped going. I gained back 80# and that's when I started the VSG process. I think I'm ok with the new Points Plus plan, but in all honesty, I feel like I'm fighting myself to really get into the diet. Somehow I think I'm supposed to just do this myself because I had surgery. But really, I think now more than ever I need some structure because left to myself, I'm gaining :( I feel myself having a commitment problem again. Sheesh...

My wife and I did it. For me, it's like everything else. I'm able to do it for a while but I lapse - I can't maintain it.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
