So I had my surgery on Monday July 2nd with Dr. Cirangle in San Francisco. When i set up the surgery i was 384lbs and he had me try to lose 25lbs before surgery. On my surgery date i was 352lbs. Iost 32lbs before surgery. I was motivated where i had not been motivated before because i knew this was the last time i would have to lose this weight. I did Atkins diet for two weeks and then really buckled down hard and did Liquid Protein only for the last two weeks before my surgery. I was self pay and was extremely happy with the results. No post op complications. I am getting in all of my liquids and Protein in since the first day. Very little post -op pain. No drains, tubes, or anything like that. Today is day 6 and I am doing most anything physically I want within reason. I am driving and walking and shopping. No problems. Dr. Cirangle is the best because he has done this procedure more than anyone else and is why he has very little if any post-op issues. I know several people that he has done the VSG on and no one had any post-op issues and was out of the hospital and back to normal functions in 24 hrs. I am very happy with the results and his care for his patients. He called me on Sunday to check on how I was doing. I highly recommend checking out his live surgery on his website to get mentally prepared for what will happen during surgery. www.lapsf.com definitely worth the money as self pay to have this procedure with the most experienced surgeon and be complication free after surgery. Now it is just get in the protein and watch the weight come off.

I'm glad everything is working out well for you. How much Protein and liquids do you have to get in post op?

I am taking in 80 - 100 grams of Protein a day and at least 72 ounces of liquid. Granted it takes me all day to do it but I'm really motivated right now to do exactly as Dr. Cirangle told me to do. I really like the chicken and beef bullion Soups and the chocolate truffle Protein Shake nectar. Some other others are not so great but I'm learning quickly what I like and don't like. Warm drinks seem to go down easier. Then there is always crystal light. Lemonade is my favorite of those.

WOW! That seems like a lot. Especially since our sleeve's are so small. I am getting sleeved on the 17th and am having second thoughts... Idk. I felt good about the surgery until now. Idk what my problem is. *sigh*

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
