They really taste ok?
*susan* 1,709 Posted September 2, 2006 Ok, I went by Walgreens to check out the optisource chewable vitamins. I talked to the pharmacist about them and decided I would stick with the Flintstones, lol. First off, they are $25.00 for one bottle. Secondly, they are formulated more towards gastric bypass patients who have malabsorption issues.
Jachut 487 Posted September 2, 2006 I take a multi and I take fish oil or flax seed oil about 70% of the time. Fish oil/flaxseed oil is the only supplement I've ever taken that noticeably does something - my hair and skin are great when I take it and I feel noticeably positive and upbeat, not that I'm often anything else. I take my multi everyday but I'm not 100% convinced that Vitamins on the whole do much except give you expensive urine. But I take it nonetheless.
Loving-It 0 Posted September 2, 2006 That's all I take is a chewable Centrum. I am however going to get back on a Vitamin I used to take years ago. It's from GNC, it's a hair, Nails and Skin formula. When I took it before I had fingernails like rocks. They break a lot now so I'm going back on this. http://www.gnc.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2187091&cp&change_search=products&keywords=hair+nail&y=0&searchId=18460601242&x=0&parentPage=search
Nana~ 4 Posted September 2, 2006 I still take my chewable Flinstones lol when I think about it, not daily sadly Nana~
cindyn 0 Posted September 3, 2006 I started Flinstones complete and am now using a liquid I found a Sam's club. It is not too bad tasting. I am not banded yet but will be on Sept 11. I heard that the Gummy children's vitamans are pretty good.
TexasTerry 0 Posted September 3, 2006 My band doc recommends that all his patients take a childrens chewable Vitamin daily. I guess if your PCP or nutritionist felt you needed more, then take their advice. I don't think a daily chewable is going to hurt anyone and it seems to be good nutrition insurance in the event we are not getting enough Vitamins with our regular food. Just my opinion - I'm not a health care professional. Terry
piperbaby 0 Posted September 3, 2006 Bariatric Advantage makes a Vitamin specifically for lap band patients. Thats what I take. It was like 25-28 for a 3 month supply. It is chewable watermelon flavor. It's called vita band

Iluvharleys 15 Posted September 3, 2006 I take a Flintstone's complete chewable and the Calcium too.
Stitchy 0 Posted September 3, 2006 I buy the dinosaurs' children's chewable Multivitamins from costco. I take two (although the doc said one). I also take two Activa chewable Calcium tablets a day. And two benefibers, but that's another issue
*susan* 1,709 Posted September 4, 2006 Stitchy, do you find the benefibers to be helpful? Not to give too much information, but ever since getting banded, I am lucky if I go once a week and when I do, it is a painful experience. I think I need to start taking something. Goannabanda 0 Posted September 4, 2006 Our dietician recommends SUPRADYN soluble multi-Vitamin for the first 6 week liquids / mushy stages. Once you're onto solids she recommends PLURAVIT, SWISSE, Centrum or other good quality Multivitamin and mineral supplement capsule. The SWISSE ones are expensive, and being large and may need to be broken in half to get them down. I am currently taking a chemist's brand multivitamin & mineral capsule. When I need a boost, I also take a BEROCCA Performance (soluble B & C complex with zinc and magnesium). I also swear by a daily dose of Probiotics for general wellbeing - I have one YAKULT or other fermented milk drink and / or about 1/3 cup of good-quality organic natural (or Greek) yogurt with about 2 teaspoons of honey on top. I am expecting to have to adjust the amount of yogurt post-banding.
