Its Official...the Dog Eats Better Than I Do...

Recommended Posts

My wife gave the dog her left over genos pizza bites...while I sit n sip on Protein concoctions....and while I couldn't eat it if I wanted...a part of me wanted to get on the floor and fight her for it lol....anything pizza really..major head issue...

But I am not hungry at all..and while the want or desire is there...I know that its all in my mind...

Oh Patrick, that just made me giggle so hard.

I really needed that good laugh. I am sure I will be looking at my pets the same way when that time comes.

Keep up all your great work.

I tried pizza the cheese n pepperoni. A week or 2 after my sleeve. And there was no satisfaction. Just made me want to vomit. Lol

I tell you what--when the numbers on the scale start plummeting-- food looks really stupid. You wonder, "what the heck was I thinking???"

Good 2 know...id wait at least to month two...think I'm going to find or create a meatball or casserole that tastes like the best parts of pizza without all the carbs when I get back to real food.

Yeah Patrick, I'm sure many dogs eat better than we do. I have a cat who loves to eat just about anything. If you know anything anout cats, you know that is so not normal for a cat. To gove you an idea of how "abnormal" she is, her favorite food is Pasta. She will sit in the kitchen with me while I am cooking it and just meow and meow until its time to eat. Anyway, she never wanted to "eat" with me when I was on liquids. She was "forced" to be on this diet with me and she isn't fat. Poor thing was so happy when we got to finally eat food again. We still haven't had pasta though!

When you get to puréed, try the world according to eggface's baked ricotta. It's on her website. Met my urge for pizza/Italian.

I do the low-carb thing, and at 23 mos. out (and in maintenance) I've had pizza several times - I just eat the toppings, cheese and all, and leave the crust. Totally satisfactory! You'll be able to enjoy the flavors of pizza again if you do it that way.

That's hilarious! I can totally understand that. It must be a head trip to not be hungry at all, yet feel like youre missing out because the dogs got the left overs. Lol.... Thanks for sharing

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
