Hi Kids

Its been a strange day....

I told you all about this already but I'll post it again b/c today is the day....... My niece Olivia (she was born a dwarf) is in the hospital, Columbia Presbyterian for children (NYC) for surgery today, she needs two spinal surgeries. The first one today is to shave her lower lumbar b/c there is compression there. The next surgery is b/c she has a tethered spine (sp?) both are extremely dangerous....doctors said she could be paralyzed or even die from the surgeries.....she is only 10 years old. Also her body organs are growing larger than her body pushing her spine into her brain.... On top of all this chit, my brother and his wife (Olivia's parents) are getting a divorce and the mother is a nasty Biotch.... my brother doesn't want the divorce but is giving her what she wants... so the stress for my brother is two fold. Olivia will be in for a few weeks for the first surgery and then the doctors will discuss the 2nd surgery. Parking in NYC at the hospital is $25.00 a day WTF!!!! so what do you do, take out a loan to stay at a hospital with your kid just to pay the parking.. oy vey.... wtf is wrong with society????

Ohhhhhhhh on a good note.... I had my first cleaning in 8 years and the dentist said I have NOOOO cavities ROFLMFAO !!!!! heck I'll take it.

Rita CONGRATS on being in onederland WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOT !!!!

Cindy what day is it ??? (count down LOLOL) jk

Mary how the heck are ya chicklet.

Well kiddies, I gotta run. I'm just worn out.

Have a wonderful day !!!!

Eileen, I just said a little prayer for Olivia and your brother, and your SIL too, because I know we are supposed to pray the hardest for the ones it's hardest to like. PLEASE update us on her progress. (I wonder if there is a department store lot he can park in nearby? I am no expert on NYC parking, but maybe one of the nurses there could give him an inside tip?) Anyhow, I wish the best for her surgery. I know it is a sensitive procedure, and you love her very much!

Beanie, whoohoo to you for going to the gym! I know what you mean about why do we fight it...I know I enjoy it when I do it, but I just procrastinate and put it off. There must be some explanation for that....???

Rita, congratulations on getting to ONEderland! It's a goal for me, and I wonder sometimes if I'll ever get there...it's a LONG trip, I'll tell you that much! LOL! Good for you!

Today was a stay at home day...I enjoyed every minute of it!

When's the last time Darcy checked in? Starting to worry...

Later, pals!

Ok, I am back from the doc and all of my stuff to get ready for the trip. I am all packed and ready for our ide tomorrrow to the airport.

I saw the podiatrist today and I have a Neuroma, a huge one. He did a cortisone shot to get me through my trip and we will discuss my options next month, sooner if I see no improvement or I start to get worse. I love him to death, he was so sweet to me today, and he took a moment to say a prayer for me about my foot and for us to have a safe trip. My foot is hurting really bad from the shot but it is not as tender around the neuoma as it was this morning. I am glad for that, the shot pain will ease up by tomorrow I am sure. I will check in when I get back, everyone behave, be nice and workout, I know I will average 12 miles a day in the parks and with it being 90+ I will get in extra Water. Hugs to all~Mandy

Hi, Mandy! Bye, Mandy! You KNOW how I envy you the trip, but you deserve it! I'm glad you know what is causing the pain, and you better take care of that thing! Get a wheelchair sometimes...at least get a front row seat for the Spectromagic Parade! Have a fantastic time, sweetie! Hugs and kisses! Cindy

Cindy, I did get a note from the doc so I can get a guest assistance pass. We have to get one for Abigale so I am aware of how great they are. We watch SpectroMagic from Casey's hotdogs. It is a great place to watch the parade and then stay for the fireworks. We have the footlongs for dinner and they are great from there and I am from the land of hotdogs, we are famous here for the Chicago style dog ya know. I got the dog with no bun and cut it up and have it with a small chili, also very good there and they have cheese sauce that is available for the chili as a topper, yumm. That is actually one of my fave counter service places in all of the parks, maybe cuz it has been there forever, I remember sharing a hot dog with my day in 1980 and they are exactly the same today as they were 26 years ago. I also love colombia harbour house, they have great fish. We are doing the Not So Scary Halloween Party on Monday, pray for good weather for us, that is tough to do in the rain, we have before and it was still great but we looked like drowned rats on the bus ride back to the resort. I will try to find you something good while I am there, maybe something with the new year of a million dreams logo on it. Hugs and kisses right back, Mandy

Hey Guys... I'm alive... just feeling a little funky... I'll bounce back soon enough. I'll be a purty busy lady over the next 8-9 weeks as I am doubling up on the externship for the dog training and also will need to get my hours in at the humane society. Anyhoo... I'll be peeking in to make sure you are all behaving. *wink*

Eileen... So sorry about Olivia and the family troubles. I can't believe the hospital doesn't provide free parking for direct family members of patients... JEEZE!!!! I hope she somes through all of her planned surgeries with flying colors and adapts to her new home situation. (((hugs and prayers for all of you))) LOL about your knees... oh how that must have stirred the conversation... I slipped on the ice once coming into work and landed on my knees... the crew had a field day with it.

Rita... COngrats on your arrival to Onederland... WTG!!!!

Mandy... OMIGOD... there is not a chance in the world anyone would get near my foot with a needle... you are a brave woman... not to mention skinny. I so hope that you are able to enjoy your trip despite the foot situation! Oh... in regards to medium sized dogs... there are websites that you can put in the characteristics you are looking for in a pet and they will match you with the breeds that will most closely fit. Maybe it's petfinder.com ... I'll check.

Beanie... Awesome on the exercise... it feels so great once ya get there and git er done... but darned if it isn't like moving a mountain to haul the butt in and get started! WTG girl! It's nice that your hubby is working out with you! I've been back to taking my GS dog for fairly long walks every morning but still haven't hauled my hiney into the gym.

Cindy... No worries... I'm nolonger glowing and can hug my family again. Now... the waiting game to see when the ole thyroid will gasp for it's last breath...lol.

Betty... Hope you get a good nights sleep soon... boy... I sure know how that feels... it sucks!!!! When I was working it was hugely worse... at least now I know I don't have to use my brain all that much during the day...lol. Anyhoo... hope you get some shut eye soon!

Mary...(((hugs))) hope to see you post soon!

Pat... Sorry girl... hope you find a way to get insurance to cover the "girls"! Let us know what happens!

Patty... (((hugs))) Hope everything is going well... I don't know how you find the time to pop in here and post!

Okay...have to go... anyhoo.... Love Y'all!

Hi All

Eileenie - they HAVE to charge for parking at the hospital - or everybody who commutes to NYC would be parking there and taking a cab to work. Have your SIL see if the hospital will validate parking for patients and family. Hugs for everybody. I am thinking good thoughts for Olivia.

Rita Ann - I know exactly what my problem is - I keep eating cheesecake! But the scale was nicer to me this morning - back down to my pre-trip weight minus a few pounds. A new low!! It's karma for exercising, I think. I guess I had better keep on going! Oh - and Nov. 10th is the day I would normally fly out - but maybe I can work out a Saturday return. I will keep you posted. It would be great to meet up with you! I don't have any info on December yet - but that is definitely a possible date.

Cindy - DH and I determined that I get flaky about going to the gym when I start working too many late nights and not getting enough sleep. Shocking revelation, huh? So, my goal is to keep everything on an even keel for the next month or so. I really do feel better...but maybe that is all in my head? I say, whatever works. Hugs!

Mandy - hope you have a fab trip!! Take lots of pictures. We want to see them. :] I hope your foot doesn't give you too much trouble. I am with Darcy - Needle + Foot = HELL NO. Hope it feels better, soon.

Darcy - Dang! I was going to sing a chorus of Hello Dolly for you... "You're Still growing, you're still GLOWING, you're still going strong!" Oh well. I guess it's better to have a healthy Darcy! Sorry you are feeling punky. Kudos to chasing the dream! I am so happy that you are doing the whole dog training thing. My dream was to be a famous singer/songwriter - but I figured I could never do that if I weighed 300lbs.. and now I am too old to be an American Idol... *sigh* Oh well. Maybe in my next life.

Hey everybody else!! Love you guys!

I will check in again soon. Hope to see all of you have stopped in.

Hugs all Round!

Happy FRIDAY afternoon!!!! It's a beautiful, sunshiney day in North Texas, 81 degrees. The State Fair of Texas opened today, but we are not going until next Saturday. Haven should be almost home by now; she is supposed to get back to school around 3 PM, and my dad is picking her up. I can't wait to hear all about her trip to Sky Ranch...it's nice not hearing "Momma, momma, momma" all day, but on the 2nd day, it's just too quiet!

Yea, Darcy! You're here! I was very, very happy to see you! Glad you are feeling okay, and it sure sounds like you are busy!

Beanie, you and your DH are right on target with other research, which says that if you concentrate on getting enough sleep, it is easier to lse weight. Maybe we should just try THAT? LOL!

Eileen, still saying prayers for Olivia...post when you know something.

What's everyone doing this weekend?

Hugs, Cindy

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
